In the light of moonlight visible in the cracks of the theater's hollow roof. There was a girl standing on the stage. The moment our eyes met, we instantly recognized each other even though we had never met face to face before. Deep down, I know her, and she knows me.
I approached her figure slowly.
"Hey..."
".........."
"After so long, we finally meet for the first time...." she replied with a small smile. I answered with a nod.
"Would you like to have a dance with me?" I asked while raising my hand in front of her hoping for her to take it. She chuckled "yes"She took my hand. I put my hand on her waist, and she put her hand on my shoulder. After that, I intertwined our fingers together. And the dance began.
Even though there's no sound of music around, we don't paid it any mind, we can always imagine it, as long as we're together, side by side. We're sure everything will be just fine.
I still remember the day when I first replied to her letters, the start of our relationship. At that time, I was still in military school, studying to be a commandant. In her letter, she said she was bored with her usual normal day, so she had an idea. She tried to send a lot of letters to random people in Babylonia and I so happen the only one who answered her letters.
Gradually, we became pen pals, and we of course used pseudonyms when exchanging letters. We talked to each other and gave each other advice. Those days never felt so peaceful.
Days turn into months, months turn into years. Our relationship became very close. As time goes by, we planned to meet for the first time. She said she would be hosting a show at Sky Garden, Arena Hall and had attached tickets in the mail hoping we could meet up after the show. Unfortunately, I was busy preparing to become a commandant, and as a result I was not be able to attend.
Since then, our busyness prevented us from exchanging letters. And so several months have passed. But before that, she told me she wanted to become a construct and I, as her friend encouraged her. I told her to become anything she wanted and nothing will changed between us.
A long time passed, she contacted me again, as her new self, as a construct. She invited me to dance together, and I accepted, but unfortunately fate seemed wants to keeps us apart once again. She says she is busy in the meantime and apologized.
Unbeknownst to me, it was the last day I have heard a word from her. Her existence seems to have vanish to thin air. And to say that I was worried would be an understatement. I've been looking everywhere for some kind of information to give me clues as to what had happened to her, but somehow deep in my head, I knew. I just don't want to acknowledge it. I have become ignorant. So I have clung to that small wish that one day, she will write to me again and explain about her sudden disappearance.
As the dance came to a stop. Under the light of the moonlight. We looked into each other eyes, and smiled softly. There are three words that don't need to be said. In this silence, various feelings surrounded us both. Sadness, pain, regret, worry, but more importantly, happiness...and love.
At this moment, a step away is no longer a step away.
Author note:
This is so damn bad, I'm gonna cry in the corner and questioning my past decisions- bye
