"Hunters?" I asked, "What are hunters?"
"You don't know?" Phil seemed surprised, "You've never heard of hunters?"
"Uhh... no," I replied slowly, "can you tell me what they are now?"
"I said that I would answer one of your questions and then I answered two," Phil replied stubbornly, "so no."
"Argh," I muttered, "why do you have to be so frustrating?"
"Go to sleep, Kid," Phil instructed.
"Lukas," I corrected.
"Whatever," Phil ignored, "It's getting late."
"I just woke up, like an hour ago," I argued, "you told me to wake up."
"That's because I wanted you to stop talking in your sleep," Phil replied, turning into his animal form. "Now go back to sleep." Phil walked back to the corner of the cage, and layed down curling up.
I rolled my eyes, turned into my animal form, and went to the opposite side of the cage. I layed down, but I couldn't fall asleep.
I need to figure out how I got here. The last thing I remember was running from the wolves after that night that I met with Kayla.
I need to slow down my thoughts so that I can focus.
I saw Kayla coming in the other direction when I got to the meeting spot.
"Hey," she said.
"Hey, how was your night?" I replied.
"It was good," Kyla answered, "how was your's?"
"Good," I told her.
"Okay, so I got some information," Kayla said, "about what happened between the wolves and the foxes."
"Does that mean the wolves know that foxes exist?"
"Yeah," Then she explained what happened the night before and what info she had gotten about the war.
"Wow, after hearing how Chase talked about the wolves," I said, Chase seems to have a really deep hatred for the wolves. "It would have seemed that it was the wolves that started the war."
"What if it was neither...," She said trailing off. What does she mean, who else would have started it. Kayla shuddered, and then sat up straighter.
"What do you mean?" I asked. Kayla sniffed the air. Does she smell something. I kind of wish that I had super smell. My sense of smell isn't very good in the first place compared to other foxes.
"I'll tell you later," She replied quickly, "right now you need to go."
"What? Why?" I asked, confused. What's going on? I turned into my animal form.
"Go," Kayla said, alarmed, "now!"
Something in the woods started to move. Whatever it was emerged from the forest, with their swords high. Wolf Guards! One lunged for me and I jumped out of their reach. I started to run back, retreating to the cover of trees, and two ran after me. They turned into wolves. They are so much bigger than me. Why are they after me? Three stayed behind with Kayla, she seems to be arguing with them.
I ran through the trees, zigging and zagging around trees trying to lose them. I ran into a new direction. I don't know this way very well, it's an unexplored area, but I can't just lead them to my village. Especially because they hate us, and Chase hates them. Someone would get hurt and I can't let that happen.
