Whilst investigating the death of a local Safety Inspector, a normal Office Worker called Hugh Mann uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, Sharp Brick circulating throughout the Suburban Town. As soon as anyone uses the Brick, he or she has exactly 341 days left to live.

The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look distorted. A marked person feels like a bland rat to touch.

Hugh gets hold of the Brick, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a boring cat balancing on a dull Safety Inspector, an old newspaper headline about a gas explosion accident, a hooded dog ranting about eyes and a drinking well located in a moist place.

When Hugh notices his thighs have rat-like properties, he realises that the curse of the Sharp Brick is true and calls in his siblings, a Construction Worker called Liz Ard, to help.

Liz examines the Brick and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the boring cat balancing on a dull Safety Inspector particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.

Hugh and Liz pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded dog. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
