Chapter 9: Festival to Remember

How long had it been? She almost couldn't recall. It was just like last time - time flew past quickly while she was in Kagoshima, because instead of staying engulfed in loneliness, L/n Y/n had an amazing group of friends to keep her company.

The tall redhead, Bushida Aki (武士田 秋), was the mother of the group, constantly keeping the other two in line and checking in on L/n when she seemed unwell or nervous. She really was a reliable and responsible friend.

The shorter redhead, Fukushima Emoki (福島 エモキ), was a brilliant hangout-planner. She was one of the reasons L/n had so much fun in Kagoshima, as she'd have awesome activities planned for the day, so L/n wouldn't even have the time to wrap herself in depression.

And the Kaneko Anzu (金子 杏), was a literal child. Her laugh was like jinglebells, and her smile could compete with the sun. She was always so happy about everything, so curious, so excited. L/n really couldn't hold back her grin when she was around.

L/n smiled, she owed them the world.

She was currently at home, it was a Sunday, but it wasn't any other ordinary Sunday. A very big event was to be held on this Sunday, of which the whole of Japan would be watching -

The UA Sports Festival.

No doubt, she was watching it. Why couldn't she pay Bakugou Katsuki, her best friend who lives in Musutafu a visit during this special occasion, you ask? Simple, tomorrow's a school day.

Waking up at 6:30 am was no easy task for L/n, but if it meant losing some sleep to support her friends on possibly, the biggest event of their life, she would do it in a heartbeat.

"Dad, mom," called L/n as she dropped herself onto the sofa, popcorn and the TV remote in hand. "Are you going to watch the Sports Festival? It's going to start soon!"

The television in front of her showed Present Mic and Eraserhead, two pro heroes, in the cockpit, giving announcments before the event started. She knew the students would walk out onto the stage soon; her heart lept, hoping to catch at least a glimpse of Bakugou.

"We'll be there..." came her father's sleepy voice, seemingly from her parents' bedroom. "We'll be there, kid..."

L/n rolled her eyes playfully - quickly lowering the TV's volume when Present Mic screamed into his mic - calling, "'Kay, then I'm starting on my own." There was a grunt of response.

She adjusted the TV to an appropriate volume, and so Present Mic's energetic voice reached her ears in an instant -

"The UA Sports Festival! Where the hero world's inchoate little eggs aim for each other's throats - and the top! Our grand annual melee!!"
