CHAPTER SIX

PUBLIC FIGURE

DRA. CORAZON was friendly and she made Annika feel comfortable which was new to her. Maybe because when she met Matias, she was so drunk that she didn't have the time to think whether she's comfortable or not.

The doctor told Annika what to do and gave her some medication to relieve her pain. It's been two days since Dra. Corazon visited her, Annika is already in her own apartment.

It's been days since such a bizarre experience happened to her and her body hasn't recovered — she's getting better, but everytime she moves she'll remember her night with that monster. Thinking about her makes her skin crawl, it feels good but she hates that she has to pay the price.

"This is hell," she murmurs as she stretches her body.

Annika spared a glance on her phone, the last text message she received from Evan was him breaking up with her. She smiled bitterly and threw her phone beside her.

Ano na ang gagawin ko?

She's fucking bored, wala na silang pasok.

She was planning to take law with Evan, they planned that for years tapos biglang drawing lang pala ang lahat. Back to zero siya ngayon, hindi niya alam kung saan siya mag sisimula ulit.

What happened two days ago kept replaying in her mind, she couldn't help but sight.

The first day she came home, Cecilia was hysterical.

Bigla nalang nawala si Annika at ang nasa isip niya ay naging pabaya nanaman siyang kaibigan. Pinuntahan niya ang apartment ni Annika because some people told her she got out from the bar with someone, pero hindi niya nahanap si Annika. Hindi ito nakatulog sa pag aalala, nag hintay ito sa apartment ni Annika magdamag.

On a sunny afternoon of Sunday, Annika came home wearing an oversized white and blue striped long sleeves polo paired with white shorts at ika-ika pa mag lakad.

That moment, Cecilia knew where her friend must've been. It's not like she was born yesterday!

At first Annika denied sleeping with someone but she can't fool Cecilia. Annika tried convincing Cecilia that it was not her fault kasi si Annika naman ang sumama sa lalaki.

Hindi maiwasan ni Annika na isipin ang reaksyon ni, Cecilia is really sweet. Aaminin niya, unti-unting bumabalik ang kanilang relasyon ni Cecilia.

If she had known that it was okay to not blame someone for their absence or to forgive someone — she would have appreciated Cecilia more.

Annika decided to turn her television on, wala siyang ginagawa at hindi naman siya makagala. Even if she can walk properly, hindi parin ito gagala, hindi siya sanay na mag isang lumalabas.

Mabuti na lang at abot niya ang remote ng kanyang TV.

She didn't choose a specific channel, pero nasa news lang ito. It was boring pero hindi naman importante sakaniya dahil all she wanted was to not feel like she have no reason to live. Kapag naka tunganga siya ay maraming pumapasok sa isipan niya, it's better to watch news than think of useless things.

The newscast ended and it moved to a show she's not familiar with. Annika wanted to discover new things and it would be her loss to only indulge herself to the things she's used to. So even though she's not familiar with the show that is playing, she'll continue to watch it.

After some recap about the last episode, the host rose from his seat and walked to the middle of the stage as if he was a newscaster.
