Cassidy's P.O.V

Since when did he live here?

He's rich! He brags about it every day.
Surely he would live in somewhere better than this.
Unless he's just lying for popularity.

"W-what are you doing here." I asked nervously, struggling to get the words out.

"I live here silly!" He laughed and patted my head. "Oh come on don't tell me your afraid of me Cass. Oh my god you are! This is too good. I'm a human too Williams. I'm not the fucking monster I make out to be."

He winked and spun around, flinging his door shut.

I strolled back into mine and flopped down on my bed. I thought about what Luke said. "I'm not the monster I make out to be." What's that supposed to mean? Is it all an act? Does he really hate me? There is something repelling yet intriguing about Luke Hemmings and although my head tells me to stay clear of him, my heart has an urge to find out more.

I dozed off in the middle of my thoughts.

That was a week ago. School has been weird. Luke hasn't spoken a word to me and it's been good. But he gives me dirty looks when I walk past.

Me and Katalina have grown really close. She's come to my house almost every day after school and we go into town shopping a lot. It's really fun having friends. I don't know why I haven't done it before.

I've stayed up on the phone to Katy almost every night this week so on Thursday I went to bed at 10pm.

I slept like a baby.

Unfortunately I was rudely awoken by the sound of Kids in the Dark by All Time Low blasting from next door.

Don't get me wrong, I love that song but really? I need my sleep.

Shit, Luke was one of those neighbours.

"Mama!" I whined. "Could you go next door and tell the neighbours to turn the music down?"

"Sure sweetie." She replied. "I need to meet them anyway." I heard the door open and close.

20 minutes later Mum still wasn't back. I was too nervous to go get her so I decided to wait a bit longer.

Half an hour after that and still no sign of her. I dragged myself out of bed and plodded out of the apartment. I took a deep breath before knocking three times on Luke's door.

The door swung open and once again I was greeted by Luke. " Hey gorgeous." He cooed. "Come to get Mommy?"

He led me into his house and I found my Mum sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of tea, talking to a man with ageing blonde hair.

"Hi Cassie. I'd like you to meet Mr Hemmings. Isn't it just wonderful how we live next door to them? Luke's your friend right?" She smiled hopefully. I forgot I told her I was friends with him.

I nervously nodded then quickly hung my head, trying not to draw attention to myself from Luke.

"Nice to meet you Cass." Mr Hemmings stood up and shook my hand. I smiled a fake smile and continued to look down.

"Oh Cassie isn't it just wonderful! We'll be able to tell secrets and have sleepovers and do each other's hair and makeup. I just can't wait!" Luke shrieked and flung his arm around me.

I gently shrugged my shoulder, signalling for him to lay off but he simply tightened his grip.

"Andrew has invited us over for dinner tonight, I expect you to be on your best behaviour." My Mum glared at me.
