Jane's POV

     Beep beep beep beep!

"Uuuurrgghh," stupid clock. I don't even know why I still have it. I blindly move my hand around until I touch what felt like the bloody alarm clock and I fling it at the wall. It caused a crashing sound and I sigh in content.

     Beep beep beep beep!

What! I look up in surprise, fully awake and confused. I smashed the clock, right? I look in the direction I threw it and see broken pieces on the floor near the bathroom door.

     Beep beep beep beep!

I look at the direction of the noise and sigh in annoyance. There is another alarm clock on my bedside table and it Is far from reach. I need to fix a lock on my bedroom door so that Caleb would stop replacing these noise machines.

I sigh again before leaving my bed and I turn off the alarm. I walk into my bathroom to brush my teeth and I take a shower right after. I towel myself down since I didn't want a wet bedroom floor.

I re-enter my room and put on a little make up, wear a clean red short sleeved dress and a brown sandal. I can't do much to my disastrous curly hair so I ignore it and put on some deodorant before going downstairs for breakfast.

It's 7:15 at the moment so I am relatively early since lessons start by 8:00. As usual, the dining table is chaotic.

Mom is serving poached eggs and bacon with toast and orange juice. Delilah, who recently turned 16, is typing away on her phone. The devilish six years old twins are fighting about something completely unnecessary. James has his headphone on and is rocking to whatever shit he's listening to like a typical fourteen years old.

Caleb, the firstborn, is trying to calm everyone down. He lives away from us but came to visit last night and decided to stay for breakfast. Big mistake. As for Dad, he's flipping through his beloved newspaper while ignoring everyone. Smart choice.

I go to sit between Lilah and Caleb. We were opposite the twins and James while Mom and Dad would sit at the head of the table.

Mom serves me before going to sit beside Dad with a tired sigh. Dad folds his papers and rubs a hand down his mate's back which makes her sigh and relax. We eat in silence for a few beautiful seconds before Felix, one of the twins, decides to ruin it.

"Where's big sis?" He asks after swallowing and Freya, his twin, nods and everyone looks at me.

I sigh and drop my fork. When I came home last night, I immediately ran to my room so that I would avoid any questioning. Guess that tactic was bullshit.

"She met her mate last night," I go straight to the point. No need to beat around a useless bush.

It was as if all the air was sucked out from the room because everyone went still. As if in correlation, their eyes widen and everyone started talking one after the other.

"That's so wonderful. Did you meet him? Is he nice?" Mom asks.

     "Is he rich?" James asks.

"Yeah is he?" Lilah pipes in.

"He's rich! Which means he lives in a castle and has alot of really cool toys!" Felix exclaims dramatically. This kid.

Freya screams in happiness as she claps her hand. Probably happy at the mention of a castle.

"Calm down guys, let her talk. So Jane, what happened?" Caleb asks and I wanted to kiss his cheek.

I take a deep breath before looking at Dad since he has yet to say anything.

I look down on my lap and explain what happened, leaving out nothing and thankfully everyone listened quietly.

"So you left your sister with a complete stranger? Why would you even think of doing or did you forget what happened last time?" He bellows and my heart drops.

     I feel like puking.

"Well, what do you have to say for yourself?" He yells causing me to flinch at the sound.

My eyes start to burn and a year escapes. "I..I wasn't th..thinking clear.."

"You weren't thinking clearly?" He shouts in fake disbelief, "Well color me surprised," he scoffs and abruptly stands up, causing his chair to fall over.

"If anything happens to your sister, you better find another place to live," he says in a cold tone before stumping out of the house. No one took the threat lightly and they all looked at me with different emotions on their faces.

Mom gives me a sympathetic smile before taking hers and dad's plate to the kitchen. The twins were now quietly eating their meal. James' headphones were on it's loudest volume while Lilah glares at me for a few seconds before shoving the rest of her food into her mouth.

It was Caleb who reaches over and takes my hand in his, "It's okay, she'll be fine," he says and squeezes my hand. I nod and he smiles at me before returning to his meal.

It's 7:45 by the time I leave the house and my school is about six blocks away from my house so I arrive five minutes before our first class which is history.

I sit in the second to the last row and open my notebook. I already read the topic that the teacher is talking about so I zone out.
