His voice stern and stiff,
asked her to take a seat
But before anything else could begin,
a voice resonated in the surroundings!

That's when her eyes fell,
on a crib placed a few feet away
A warmth like no other coursed through her,
inadvertently pushing her towards it!

She knew not when she stood up
oblivious to his surprised gaze was she
All she knew was the feeling that urged her,
leading her ahead involuntarily!

As soon as she reached the crib did she see,
an adorable little munchkin,
her eyes softened instantly,
her fondness for kids filling her heart to the brim!

An affection like none other bloomed within her,
the child's lifted hands calling out to her.
She lifted the child gently in her arms
a smile on her face, at the child snuggling comfortably, formed!

Still oblivious to a stormy gaze,
she cradled the baby to her chest,
looking into the little girl's huge, dark orbs,
which were gazing at her with interest!

She walked back to the chair,
rocking the baby gently,
a soothing tune involuntarily escaped her lips,
lulling the little one into sleep.

Her eyes filled with tears,
as the lullaby brought back memories of years
a warmth she had been bereft of since long,
connected her unknowingly to the child in her arms.

Flashes of blissful memories
Sweet little moments of life
flooded her within a moment,
the place where she was forgotten to her!

It was only when she felt a hanky passed on
did she realise she had been crying,
meeting those orbs which now held turbulence,
brought reality crashing on!

He pushed away those sensations
and donned a professional mask
for the first time hoping,
she wouldn't disappoint!

But before he could begin,
his little girl called out,
in her own language of incoherent words,
that meant she had waited for his attention long enough!

Just as he made to stand up,
he saw her moving towards the crib,
Surprised he gazed on,
as she moved like a dazed person!

He looked on in conflict,as her orbs softened,
brimming with warm affection,
and when she lifted his little girl in her arms,
his baby's ease made the decision!

Turbulent emotions plagued him
As he gazed at the duo
What he had been seeking since long,
he had finally found!

But his fear was far too profound
it wouldn't do to cope up with another jolt,
for while he cared nothing about himself,
a compromise with his baby's life wasn't something he would make!

Before he could contemplate more,
a mellifluous voice filled his ears,
surprised he gazed on at her
before noticing his child deep in slumber.

Speechless he sat, by the happenings
at a time and place so unexpected
Unaware that it was all destiny's play!

And then he saw tears fill her eyes
along with a look reminiscent of delving deep
into bygone years and memories!

Unknowing of what was to be done,
affected by her tears rolling down,
he pulled out his hanky and passed it towards her,
pulling her back from wherever she had wandered!
