After Loki faked his death in the Dark World, he used his power to shape-shift himself into an Einherjar guard so that he could travel back to Asgard. He had plans to take Odin, but couldn't due to an interruption. He concealed himself, keeping a watchful eye on Odin so that he could find the right moment to use a spell on his adopted father. Because Loki stood close to Odin, Loki had to watch the news of Loki's death be delivered to Ravenna. Seeing the pain in her eyes and how she fought so hard not to break down in front of Odin and Thor made Loki want to remove the concealment just so that he could hold her in his arms, but he couldn't.
If he removed the concealment, Thor and Odin would've had Loki locked back in his cell. He believed that even by saving Thor and the Nine Realms, Odin and Thor would not allow him to have the freedom to be with Ravenna. He needed his death to happen so that he could finally be with the love of his life.
The moment Thor walked away, Loki took advantage and used the spell on Odin. The spell would leave Odin delirious, his identity unknown, and mortal. He took Odin to a care home in New York City. Because of that distance, Loki was unable to hear Ravenna's pleas. The pleas where she begged him to reveal if Loki was alive or not. With him not being able to answer her, Ravenna believed he was truly gone.
When Loki finally returned to Asgard, he was going to go to Ravenna straight away, but couldn't because Thor wanted an audience with Odin. So again, Loki shape-shifted into Odin so that he could speak to Thor. A triumph-filled smirk appeared on Loki's face when Thor said that he was giving up the throne and only wanted to be the protector of the Nine Realms. The freedom that Thor desired was all for him to enjoy, while Loki could rule Asgard and have Ravenna. He knew that he needed to see Ravenna, but couldn't do so. Loki was forced to play Odin past sunset, discussing the reconstruction of the palace, and making sure the shield generator was to be fixed. He wanted to communicate with Ravenna through telepathy, but he stopped himself. He believed that it would've been better if Loki came to her in person.
Loki had two plans for Ravenna to choose from. The first plan was to see if Ravenna wanted to stay in Asgard. If she chose to, then she would still be able to protect the Staff of Hodr but Loki would have to pretend to be Odin. He would only be available to Ravenna in secret. The second plan was to convince her to run away with him. It didn't matter where they'd go as long as they had each other. He was willing to give up the throne for her if she chose the second option. Loki would need to use his powers to bring Odin back to Asgard, along with making sure Odin didn't know Loki was alive, but it was something for her to choose. Loki knew that honoring her father's wishes would be important to her, but he prayed that Ravenna would choose the second option. He wanted to live a life with her that involved not having to hide away any longer. He needed their love to grow into the sunlight.
Sighing, Loki shape-shifted back to himself, "Finally. I'm coming, Darling."
"My King!" A guard shouted as they neared the throne room.
Loki grumbled, "Of bloody course." Quickly, he turned back into Odin before the guards could see Loki.
"Allfather, Eisa Falladottir was found dead in her chambers."
"What was the cause of her death?"
"We are unsure, My King, but there's more news."
"What else is there?"
"Lady Ravenna is missing, My King," the guard informed him.
Loki's eyes widened. "Have everyone search for Lady Ravenna. Check the gardens, and the meadow by the waterfall. Every corner of Agard is to be searched until we find her!"
"Yes, My King." The guard walked away to give the order.
Loki nervously paced back and forth. 'Darling, it's Loki. I'm alive, Ravenna. I swear to you, I'm alive. I will explain everything, but first, tell me where you are.' Loki waited for Ravenna to respond, but heard nothing. 'I understand that you're going to be angry for not telling you sooner, but I promise you, it's for a good reason. Tell me where you are and I will explain. Ravenna, please. Say something.'
Loki frowned when Ravenna didn't answer him. He wondered if Ravenna and her stepmother fought. He knew that Eisa was abusive to Ravenna. There was a chance that she would fight back this time, but it wasn't like Ravenna to kill. Sighing, Loki grabbed Gungnir from its stand before he walked to Ravenna's chambers. He knocked on the door first, but when there was no answer he stepped inside.
He expected Ravenna to call him Allfather but was met with silence. Loki stepped inside Ravenna's room seeing her perfumes, creams, and jewelry that were on her vanity table on the ground. A cabinet under the vanity was opened, but he didn't know what was meant to be inside of it. He walked over to Ravenna's wardrobe to see that her dresses were still there.
'Ravenna, where are you?' He swiftly went to the chambers of Eisa and Egil to examine the body of Eisa. A few of the guards were there surrounding the body. Loki knelt down and examined the wound. "Do we know what caused this?"
"We don't, My King," one of the guards replied.
"No one has seen Lady Ravenna at all?" Loki questioned.
His hand clenched into a fist when the guard shook his head. He knew something was wrong. By examining the wound, he could tell that the wound was caused by some powerful heat that completely burned the skin and cauterized the inside. Loki could only assume that it was some type of energy source, but he didn't understand where Ravenna would get that kind of power.
Loki straightened. He assumed that Ravenna left Asgard to escape the judgment that Asgard was going to give her. On top of that, the loss of her father, Frigga, the failed engagement, and Loki faking his death would probably drive Ravenna to leave Asgard behind. However, he didn't want to believe that Ravenna was going to be gone forever. Loki wanted to find her, but if he removed the spell from Odin, Loki could be arrested. That meant that Ravenna wouldn't be found. He needed to play the part of Odin while he searched for Ravenna.
I'll find you, Darling. And when I do, I'm never letting you go again.
