12.3 THE PUNISHMENT

The sun shone and rose up into the blue sky. It was a bright day. Only dim rays were passing through the closed window glass. The birds were chirping and along with that, a woman was humming. She was setting plates on a dining table. Her peony pink lips carried a smile. Her skin held a subtle sheen.

She was attired under a long gown. Its layered sleeves were drifting up to her elbows. She put her hands together in front of her chest. She beamed looking at the table wholly filled with a variety of dishes.

"Kamoor, get down here hurry, your breakfast is getting cold!" Kasira shouted exuberantly. She pulled the chair and sat on it.

She heard steps approaching the dining hall but she didn't pay much heed to it. She was humming and waiting for others to join.

Manzu walked in the Hall, he made a sudden halt to sniff the mouth-watering aroma. His auburn hair was all messed up and he was in his simple night clothes.

"Woaahh! Today maids have made so many dishes." He rubbed his hands and did a blep. He pulled the chair and sat right next to Kasira. As he was about to hold a spoon to take a bite, Kasira slapped his hand to stop him.

"Oye! Am I not even allowed to eat?" He quickly brought his hand close to himself.

"Did you clean your teeth?" Kasira gave him the stern look.

"What I AM A CHILD!!" He opened his arms.

"Just kidding, help yourself." She propped his arms on the table and rested her head on her clasped hands. She again started humming.

"THANK YOU.......VERY MUCH!!" He shook his head and rolled his eyes with exaggeration. He began to put items on his plate.

Kamoor was walking down the stairs. When he reached the table Kasira wished him a good morning without looking at him.

He replied a bit late and slowly. "Hmm.... Good morning."

"Good - " Manzu swallowed down the word, the view in front of him was so perplexed. He got so shocked looking at Kamoor that the spoon slipped from his hand.

Kasira was about to take a sip of her soup but got stopped by the spoon's falling sound. He put down the spoon.

"Seriously Manzu, you are still annoyed by my joke." She scoffed.

Manzu didn't reply and kept gaping at Kamoor. Kasira shook her head exasperatedly. She moved her head toward Kamoor and got choked on her soup. She coughed and reached for a glass.

IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE! KAMOOR WAS READING A SPELLBOOK!

Kamoor closed the spellbook quickly. He poured water in a glass from an ornamental silver jug. He passed the glass to Kasira.

"Are you alright, Mother?"

She put her hand on the chest and exhaled. "Yes! Thank you, dear."

He was about to open the spellbook again then suddenly his gaze fell on Manzu, who was still gaping at him.

Kamoor raised his eyebrows. "Do yoouuu......want me to pass something."
