An elderly couple walk along a path up a hill, four little kids running ahead of them as the couple smile in a loving way. Soon, the kids stopped and waited for the elderly couple to catch up.
Once the elderly couple did, the group stared up at two statues. One child, a little boy, speaks up.
"Hey, grandma, grandpa? Who are these two ladies?" The boy asked as he pointed at the statues.
"That is the dragon goddess, Kasai." The grandmother said, smiling. The statue she named had draconic wings and tail, horns growing out of her head, markings under her eyes, and an old Japanese styled armor like kimono.
"And whose that that is next to her? She's super pretty." One of the little girls said.
The grandfather chuckled. "That is the angelic goddess, Jewel. Lover and partner to Kasai." The statue he named had angel wings and halo, markings under her eyes, a modest ankle length sleeveless dress and an almost scarf like shawl over her shoulders.
"I don't like Kasai. She's scary." The youngest boy and girl, twins, say in unison. At least they agreed on one thing.
"Ah, but she's only like that if her lover is hurt or crying. She'd actually never hurt someone without reason." The grandfather said, laughing a bit.
"But Jewel is so pretty, why would she be with someone scary like Kasai?" The oldest boy asked.
The grandmother laughed along with her husband. "Jewel is the one to fear. It's actually quite difficult to get her angry, but once you have, you should beg for forgiveness. Kasai keeps her balanced, and vise versa."
The eldest girl spoke up. "Grandma, grandpa, how do you know all of this? Aren't they a myth from centuries ago?"
The elderly couple looks at each other smirking. The grandfather spoke. "We've actually met them, back when we were young adults. It was quite the adventure, let me tell you. Your grandmother and Jewel got along all too well." He joked, earning him a smack in the arm from the woman.
"Only because you and Kasai were getting along about ancient weaponry, you dork. You both caused us concern and boredom at the same time." The grandmother said, laughing.
The children were confused as they watched their grandparents jokingly and lovingly bicker, the two eldest sighing. The two youngest were intrigued by what their grandfather had said.
"Wait, so you met them?!" The youngest girl asked, excitedly.
"Can we hear the story?!" The youngest boy asked, joining his twin in her excitement.
The grandparents, having forgotten for a short time that their grandkids were with them, looked at the kids and to each other. They seemed to silently agreed as they turned to a stone table that was not that far from the statues.
"Go sit and we'll tell you the story of the two goddesses and their adventures in the mortal world." The grandmother said as she started leading the kids to the table.
The grandfather, having done this when they visited with their children many years ago, knew the routine. He smiled to the statues and followed his wife and grandkids.
"This happened when your grandfather and I were still dating and were travelling the world before we'd settle down." The grandmother began and so the story begun.
