Jai

I can't keep my eyes off of her as we leave.  She's so beautiful.  She puts on her coat and grabs her bags.  We say our goodbyes to everyone before we're off.
I open her door for her and she smiles at me.  I walk around and start up the 4WD taking her home.  I think her family left earlier.  Everyone was asking her about the Jamaica trip and how we met.  It was pretty nice.  I really felt welcomed.  Not a single person noticed who I was or hounded me for anything.  It was a lot like the mission group.
"Do you ever see anyone from the other church?" I ask Megan.
"We could go on Wednesday if you want," she offers.
"What's Wednesday?" I ask.
"Kind of a miniature service for them.  It's a mid-week service to sort of get you through the rest of the week.  It's more casual and relaxed—so, casual attire," she says.  "Gale will be teaching the teens after worship."
"We could go if you want.  It'd be nice to see some familiar faces in town," I tell her.
"Alright," she smiles.  "That sounds nice."
"You look beautiful, by the way," I say.  I glance at her to see her blushing.
"Thank you," she whispers.  "I like your suit."  I smile in response.  "I'll be changing after lunch, though."
"Why's that?" I ask.
"Let's just say a dress isn't gun range attire," she tells me.
"Right," I nod.  "What is?"
"I'm probably wearing jeans and a cotton t-shirt.  I might throw on a sweatshirt or sweater.  Whatever I grab first," she says.
"Maybe I should get something before we go to your place," I suggest.
"I could see the mysterious hotel I've only heard about and never been to," she grins.  I smile in reply.  "Were there any ghosts last night?" she teases.
"No," I laugh.
"You know, sometimes the wind around here gets really high and it makes a whistling noise.  That's probably it.  People unfamiliar with our high winds could jump to conclusions in an old building.  Also, superstitious people would, too."
"Probably," I agree.  "So, you're not superstitious?"
"No.  I put my faith in God, not silly rituals and other such things," she says.
"How can you be so sure?" I ask.
"Because I know he's there.  I can feel him.  He was speaking to me today," she replies.
"What'd he say?" I ask curiously as I make a turn toward the CBD.
"It's more of a feeling than a sentence, you know.  I realized that I've been up on the stage so long that I haven't sat in with the crowd at church for a while.  It felt like I had a greater connection with him today, like he was glad that I came and met with him and grew closer," she explains.
"That's interesting," I tell her surprised.  I was mostly just watching how it was more reserved than the other church.  It had more of a comfortable vibe to me than the other.  "Was there anything else?"
"I asked God for something.  He didn't respond," she says.
"What do you think that means?" I inquire intrigued.  I find it fascinating that she can so easily interpret such things.
"Usually, when I start a conversation with God and he's been communicating with me... and then he suddenly stops... the answer to my question is wait," she tells me confidently.
"Wait?" I question confused.
"I'm always glad for that.  In my opinion, waiting is better than a no," she says.
"What were you asking for?" I inquire.  I'm expecting like fortune or fame, long life...
"I was praying for you," she tells me meeting my eyes.
"For me?" I laugh disbelievingly as I pull into the car park.  "What about me?"
"We'll just have to wait and see," she smiles.
"Fair enough," I reply.  I'm overwhelmed that she's talking to her God about me.  I'm incredibly curious what she's asking for.
I park and get her door.  I open the entrance to the reception and she walks in.  She stops short.  "Hi, Ryan," she laughs.  "I didn't know you worked here."
I realize that's the attendant from yesterday.
"Yeah," he smiles.  Then he sees me.  "How's everything?"
"Good," she replies.  "Do you know Jai?"
"As a matter of fact we met yesterday," he nods grinning.  "How do you know Mr Courtney?"
She laughs and walks in closer.  "Um, I just got back from a mission trip.  We met in Jamaica."
"They do mission trips to Jamaica?  I've got to volunteer for one of those," he says.  "Um... I'd heard you were marrying one of the Blaze's."
She sighs.  "I called off the wedding," she tells him softly.  "I found out something about him that I couldn't allow in a spouse so I gave him back his ring."
"That's too bad," he replies.
Megan turns to me.  "Ryan and I went to high school together," she tells me.
"We had a couple classes together.  I'd seen you on campus, too," he elaborates.
"Oh, how's school going?" she asks.
"Good.  Engineering is rough.  I thought I'd be done by now," he says.
"Mikey is studying computer science.  If you ever need anything, maybe he could help," she offers shrugging.  "He's flying through his courses, but he has my dad and Artie who've already taught him lots of the business."
"Maybe I'll call him sometime," he smiles.
"Alright.  We better get going.  My parents are waiting for us," she says.
"It was good seeing you both," he waves.
I smile at him and Megan waves.  I walk her up to my room and get out my key.
"That's the key?" she laughs.  "It looks like a skeleton key."
"It's what they gave me," I grin.
I open the door and let her step in first.  "Wow, this is amazing," she says looking around in awe.  "I can't believe they've been hiding this in town.  They need to get some images of this on their website."
"I agree.  And they need to list with other hotel searches," I comment.
"Yeah.  Maybe the owner needs some help with that," she responds.
"If you can do that, you'd probably be able to offer your services all around town.  It seems like your city for the most part is computer illiterate," I tell her.
She laughs in surprise.
"I'm serious though.  You have some serious skill from what I've seen.  I heard you made all of the graphics for the church, the website, and the flyers," I mention pulling a slip of paper I was given out of my pocket.  "I can understand giving to your church but you really could make a business out of this elsewhere."
"I'm not interested in that," she tells me dismissively.
"But you're good at it," I insist.  "There are so many things that you could do with your life."
"Maybe," she replies shrugging.  "Is that the bathroom?"
I nod.
"May I?" she inquires.
"Sure," I laugh lightly as I pack a small carryon.
"Is it crazy and weird that I want to use your toilet?" she asks me stepping out.
I chuckle at that.
"You can use my dunny if you want," I tell her.
"I'm just going to flush it," she says seriously turning around and doing exactly that.
I explode in laughter.
