ONCE today as always,
the moon continued its path.
a beautiful trip around the earth,
and for another time, it fell in love with her again.
the nurturing blues and healing greens,
the moon had admired it for years yet didn't grow tired.
but even in love, the moon's heart still hurt—
for earth loved someone else, and moon loving her was a curse.
earth circled the sun, and the sun shined bright—
but moon wasn't a star and couldn't warm earth with light.
so as night came, even then earth didn't budge out of sun's sight—
moon thought to have a chance until watching the pair dance.
in pain, moon had a heart of venomous ache,
the sun and earth had chemistry,
a kind moon couldn't recreate.
when sun kissed earth goodbye, and left the pair
darkness encroached the two but earth didn't care.
so as old history would allow and carry on true,
earth would love sun—
and nobody would love moon.
