I take a deep breath and knock. "Come in." I hear a female voice. "The director will see you in a minute." I sit down waiting. It seems like forever. Oh I'm so damn nervous. Finally, they let me in. I open the door and see a nice woman smiling at me. Well, smiling is always a good sign. "Director Jenny Shephard." She says as she stands up. "Johanna Zoe Eaton." I introduce myself. "Oh, I've heard about you." I freeze. What exactly did she hear..? I'm wondering- "so are you gonna give me your file?"- she interrups me. "Oh, sure." I hand her my file and the paperwork, still confused. "Ex- FBI field agent. You've worked with NCIS before, haven't you?" she asks raising her brow. I nodd. "Yes, I thought I saw you here before." Right, that's how she's heard about me. "Take a seat." she offers. I sit down on a long silver table. I'm really nervous, but tend not to show it. She continues reading my file, not showing any strange emotion that should worry me. Suddenly she excuses herself and makes a call. I try to listen to what she's saying , cause I suspect it's about me. "Remember when I told you I'll be studying newbies today? Yes. I have one. Ex- FBI, lots of experience. She's good. Yes, I know you're busy, Jethro" and that's all I hear. Wow. She likes me. We sit there in silence, she keeps on sudying my file why I try to stay calm. Three minutes later, a middle-aged man with grey hair and blue eyes walks in, without knocking at all. Judging by that, probably in good relations with the director. He sits opposite me. "What's your name?" "It's Johanna Zoe Eaton, sir." She hands him my file, he looks at it for about 30 seconds and closes it. "So, ex- FBI?" "Yes, sir." "Tobias' team?" I nodd. He obviously knows Fornell.
I stare at them, as she stands right next to him. "She's not a tech, but you've already got one." he just gives her a strange look. I'm pretty sure it means 'do not interrupt me'. And so he asks me a few other questions. Then he stops and, for a split second, looks as if he's gonna ask another question, but he doesn't. The director goes back to her desk and he just freezes, staring directly into my eyes. I look back into his. They are beautiful, blue and deep. I like looking at people's eyes, it's just the first thing I notice at them. Eyes can tell a lot about the man. But I've never seen anyone with eyes this deep.. Wise and.. Somehow locked. There's something about them, I can't tell what. And oh jeez, I wake up from my thoughts, still looking at him. For some reason it's hard to stand this stare, so I lift my head up in order to look stronger. Soon enough, I realise I can't stand it, so I look down. And when I quickly look up again, I catch a little smile in the corner of his mouth. He gets up an signals me to follow him. As we're leaving, I hear the director saying "you forgot something, Gibbs." so that's his name. "Really, Jen?" I see him turn around and ask. "Yes, are you taking her or not?" and that's when my heart starts beating like crazy. But he just takes out his palm and the director gives him something, I can't see what. We leave in silence, my heart still beating like crazy. A few minutes later, he stops in a small corridor and turns to me. Finally, he opens his palm and I get to see what he's giving me. It's a badge. I start smiling, it's a big relief. "But before you take it, I need to know something. Why did you leave?" no, I can't answer this... I hope he's thinking of something else. "Wh.. What do you mean, sir?" " I think you know exactly what I mean. Why did you resign in FBI?"
