Chapter 11

Danny's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night hearing footsteps from outside my door. 'That better not be who I think it is...' I thought to myself, as I got out of bed and sneaked out of the room. The shadow of the figure could be seen on the hallway walls. I continued to follow the shadowy figure. It was too dark to see who it was.

'Timmy, you better not sneak to the lab again...'

To my surprise, the figure headed toward the kitchen instead.

'Huh? Who could be hungry this late at night?' As I wondered this, the fridge lights can be seen showing the outline of the figure. I turned on the kitchen lights to get a better view of who it was.

"Y/n?"

"Eep!" She jumped, startled by my presence. I kinda felt bad for sneaking up on her thinking that it was Timmy.

"Don't scare me like that!" She spoke close to a whisper, seeing that everyone else was still asleep. But I still couldn't help but wonder what she was doing up at 11:32 pm at night.

"Sorry, I thought you were someone else" I replied, still feeling a bit guilty.

"That's ok," Y/n reassured me with a smile, taking out a bottle of water to drink.

"So what are you doing up this late?" I asked, walking over to the table to take a seat.

"I couldn't sleep so I decided to get myself a drink" She answered after drinking out of the bottle. I looked at her skeptically as she took another sip out of the bottle before she noticed my doubtful look.

"What?"

"You're hiding something are you?"

"Pfft, no I'm not, what makes you say that?"

"Just your tone of voice alone tells me there's another reason, don't lie."

Y/n sighed in defeat seeing that it was pointless to make up another excuse. She walked over to take a seat across from me. She took a deep breath and relaxed.

"I'm getting worried," Y/n managed to choke out, gripping the bottle a little too tightly.

"About what?" I asked, a little puzzled.

"I don't know, to be honest, I just got a feeling that something bad is gonna happen. I just don't know what, and that's what scares me." She shook her head as if she were trying to push away the thought.

I stared at her for a moment, this was the first time I'd seen her like this. I rubbed her back to comfort Y/n seeing that she was disturbed by whatever she sensed. I knew what that felt like.

"Maybe it's just me, getting worked up over nothing. I'm sorry if I woke you up."

"No worries, you need to sleep anyway I'll put this away for you." I offered, taking the water bottle from her.

"Thanks, I guess I woke up a bit too early." Y/n chuckled, standing up and heading for her room.

"And Danny?"

"Hmm?"

"Thank you for listening," Y/n said with a smile.

I smiled back and nodded, "If you need anything you can talk to us."

  I watched her as she left the kitchen, my mind processing what she had said. It kind of bothered me a little.

'I wonder what's bothering her, I hope she'll be ok...' I thought to myself, turning off the light and heading to bed.

~Meanwhile in the lab~

"Ok... Now I need to add this here and...done!" Jimmy said, rubbing the sweat off his forehead after adding the final piece to his ray gun. He yawned, then looked at his watch. It was already 3:42 in the morning.

'Great, now I'm not gonna get enough sleep...' He groaned. Putting away his tools and his ray gun. Before heading upstairs, he took one last glance at the monitor. All five of their worlds including his own show peaceful unique landscapes without bedlam.

"Not for long"

He frowned, "What do you mean?" Jimmy was not sure if it was wise to chat with a mysterious voice.

"They will be back and you know it."

"What are you talking about? The syndicate disbanded, we made sure of that."

"Even so, do you even think they would give up that easily? They are bound to come up with another scheme that would ruin all your worlds forever, including Y/n's. What would you think would happen if they figured out how to control this world."

"That would never happen, and even if they manage to find out they would never pinpoint the exact location, now leave me alone whoever you are." Jimmy continued up the stairs to the top and headed for his room, hoping the voice inside his head would go silent for eternity.

He finally reached his bedroom, opening the door to head inside.

"Dreams can become a reality."

He stopped in his tracks. He was about to snap back when the voice spoke again.

"You're not the only one who witnessed it, the crumbled buildings, the broken streets, the hollow alleyways, just think of what would happen if they got away with it."

Jimmy froze in place, his heartbeat was the only thing that filled the silence.

"It's only a matter of time before they return to wreak havoc on your worlds once more and who knows, maybe they will be after her too."

"Not possible."

Believe what you will, but sooner or later they will be back. They Always come back. They could be scheming another plan as we speak. But I know how you can stop them."

Jimmy thought for a moment, It is true that the syndicate made a comeback before.

He closed the door of his room and headed back towards the stairs.

"What do you purpose I do?"

Ok, so I may need to put this book on hold for a while cause there are other things I needed to do and that would depend on if I don't get too much on my hands but that will be decided on the next page. Sorry for being late and again, thank you for your patients.
