Her smile, enough to light up an entire room.

She laughed, smiling brightly, as she handed me the lunch she'd made me.

As she turned, her short, deep, black curly hair flowed to her shoulders, framing her tan skin perfectly.

"Elise you don't have to bring me lunch, I don't want to be a burden"

"Noah, you could never be a burden to me"

She said rolling her eyes before playfully hitting me.

"Now tell me how it tastes"

I took a bite of the savory goodness.

She'd made me a chicken salad, with a special sauce coating the chicken and spinach she used.

"Damn"

"Is that a good damn or a bad damn?"

"Good"

"Elise I think you're in the wrong profession, you should really be a chef"

"Don't flatter me Noah" she said while smiling

We sat and talked for a few minutes before she stood, dusting herself off.

"Well, my break's over,"

And before she headed to the door, she placed a neatly folded note onto the table.

She turned to me saying "Read it."

And with that the door closed, leaving me in the storage room alone.

Her scent lingered in the room, a scent of sweet, warm, vanilla and coconut.

The room never has anyone else in it, it's an old, random storage room on the 5th floor that nobody ever seems to use. So we made it our spot.

There was no light in this room, besides the small, old, light that we changed every now and then. Even with that the room was dark and just like any other storage room.

The rug beneath me was so vibrantly colorful. colors blue and red danced together creating beautiful swirls and lines. Such a contrast to the dull room, it reminded me of her. Elise, she's a light, she makes me happy.

But so does Rachel.

And with that I reached over the table, grabbing the crisp, neatly folded note, opening it carefully.

You should stop by.. I enjoyed your company last time <3

I love her small gestures, they make me feel appreciated and I feel bad that Rachel just doesn't make me feel that way anymore, even though she tries.

I refolded the note, putting it into my pockets, trying to shove it as far as possible.

I need to get back to work.

I adjusted myself as I stood, dusting off my clothes as I walked towards the door.

Stepping out, I walked over to the elevator, thinking about the note.

We'd never done anything, only hung out a few times, mostly at work, or for lunch during work, but once at her house. You could feel the tension between us.

I wanted her every moment we were together, and she felt the same about me, but I couldn't bring myself to put Rachel through something she didn't deserve.

I let my thoughts roam freely until the elevator came to a halt and I walked towards the front desk.

Elise sat there, handing me a stack of papers and a clip board, smiling as she reached her hand out.
