Beatrice POV:
I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I survived, but sometimes I wish I hadn't. It hurts. Being alone. I have many regrets but falling for one of them was at the top of my list for sure. I was lonely all the time and nobody was going to come and save me. Not this time.
He made me think I was special. But I am just a girl. A sad, worthless, weakling of a girl and that was all. I learnt this after a year or so. I don't enjoy looking back at my story but I can't help it. It was a game changer for all of humanity. Most died those many years ago. But this is my side of the story where I made it out of the orphanage. Yes I am an orphan, 14 year old Bee was an unwanted wreck. Anyways, Fire, blood smears and screams. Imagine all that in an ugly looking ancient mansion. Oh and vampires. Heh. almost forgot of the main reason I am here today. I had been in the dorms with six other girls and four boys. We were scared waiting to get eaten alive or something like that before one of the boys, Wesley, said he had an idea.
'Guys the balcony!' Wesley was a total jock and I didn't mind at all. all the girls wanted him but he wasn't interested in anyone except one but he would never tell who it was or anything. One girl, Wesley's sister Adelyn hated it when we would talk about her brother in a lovey dovey way but we just brushed her off.
Another jock kind of boy Archer who was dating all the girls though but never seemed satisfied and had a new one every week, had said back to Wesley, ' Ok and how is that going to help? are we gonna shimmy down the drainpipes or something?'
Wesley laughed nodding. And shimmied we did.
Addy was first, Then Archer, Wesley, some girl Daisy, Summer and a bunch of people I didn't care to remember then finally me.
We stuck together for the most of it, but that didn't last at all. Long story short, I was split up from them and taken to a huge beautiful castle. I was locked in a cellar. No heating. No food and little water. I had a bed and was chained to it too. I thought I would die down there but heck I was in for some good luck meaning I heard a voice, dreamy, husky voice, 'Let me see her, no no I demand to see her. Father says tha-' We locked eyes. His beautiful blue bell eyes. We stared for a while and stared some more before he said, 'Have a room for her ready in ten minuets and don't you dare lay a finger on her.' He turned to me, 'Beatrice, I am Diego, I won't hurt you I just need you to co-operate.' I nod.
Again long story even shorter, He had fallen in love with me and I with him. He proposed after a three years of us. I know young but I was 17 so I didn't believe I was ready but heck this was the boy I loved. He was only a year older anyway and a prince.
He treated me like a queen but when I posed boned the wedding for two years, he flipped. 'I am sick of this, I don't care if we are not married yet but you are mine so that means I can do what I want with you, ok?' I nodded scared.
He got angry more often after that. Still not married today luckily. But he hit, kicked and punched me until I was out cold. He got desperate and touched me. I never felt more empty more disgusted. I cried all the time and was punished for it.
He wasn't very smart though.
He had given me the most beautiful ring in the world for an engagement ring. Not just any ring. To stop other vampires from hurting me, it had a protection to block my scent from vampires. I was going to use it to my advantage.
I was sick of the beatings so when I had the chance I took it.
He was sure I wanted to stay for some reason. But obviously I didn't. I saw a window open by a crack opposite my room. Diego was showering so I packed a bag. Or I grabbed a bag packed many weeks ago. See I was ready. I darted across the hall and opened the window fully. I was in luck because a huge pile of leaves would've broken my fall.
Skip back to now. I am 19, in the woods alone. It's darker so I know it's night. Now is The vampires time to come out to play. But I have the ring. I jogged around for a while. Now what?
I was tired and I needed rest now but I was too scared to sleep. I was about to try at setting camp before I heard..
Voices? Oh No! 'Daisy, quick, I think we lost them!' An excited yet whispered voice said.
'How can you tell? A sleepy voice said.
'Just shush for a second,' The first voice said. A bit rude but ok. 'Carry on running.'
So who are these people or are they vampires? I can't tell.
Fear builds up inside of me and I start to back up slowly.
I hear them coming close and trip over a branch. Now on my back, two faces look down upon me
They look fierce. Or at least ready for a fight anyway.
One is holding a, a lighter? Oh thats right vampires hate fire!
But they are holding it up to me and when I don't react to it she shoots a puzzled look.
I am begging now for them not to hurt me.
'Save it.' The red headed one shoots me a glare. Wait I know these people. Adelyn? Daisy?
