"I had wanted to live a quiet life, sheltered by our city. Flourishing like tulips given GroCel. But this city holds secrets. Secrets our government wants to keep, secrets I stumbled upon. We are not so damaged as you believe, Vesa. We are not so strong as they have us think. Do you trust me, Vesa? "
"Yes."
"Then take this. You will know how to use it when the time comes. I will not be there to help you, but others will."
She placed something in the girl's hand. Something small and smooth, circular but not perfectly round.
"Where are you going?"
"I wish I could tell you. Just remember - even the smallest thing can have an impact. Are you a thing, Vesa?"
"No!"
"You are so much more than a thing. You can have a huge impact if you want to."
"What if I don't want to?"
"Then forget this moment. Forget all I've said. Just know- just know that I love you. I always will."
