Adrian was once again looking at him, he made sure no one noticed the way he was looking at his best friend. His long hair covered where his eyes lingered. Adrian was in love with his best friend, it felt like everyone in the whole world knew the thoughts roaming around his head. Even though he knew that nobody was looking at him he still felt like everyone's eyes were set on him waiting for him to make the smallest mistake to expose him. Harvey...Harvey...Harvey, he could say his name a thousand times. No matter how many times he said it he couldn't get tired of it.
There was one problem, no, more than one. The first one was he was his best friend since elementary school, second Harvey has a girlfriend she was pretty her name was also pretty, Jeannie. It matched her. If he didn't have a crush on Harvey, he would a hundred percent have a crush on her. The last and most heart aching problem was that Harvey was straight. Every queer person's greatest fear. Straight crushes. Adrian was like any high school boy, maybe with a few quirks. He had pimples here and there, hair covering most of his face, wasn't really attractive but also wasn't ugly. He was just average.
There was one thing that he was oblivious about and that was Chante's eyes that would gaze at him like a moth drawn to a flame. He never noticed it, Chante was one of his close friends. He wouldn't say that they were on the same level as Harvey and him but it was somewhere near. Chante was just an observer; he observed everything, even Adrian's eyes that were dead set on Harvey. He knew he didn't have a chance with him. It was sort of like a love triangle just that the main lead didn't acknowledge the second main lead's feelings. He was very aware that Adrian had his heart set on Harvey and a love confession with chocolate and flowers wasn't going to change that. For that reason, he just buried these emotions deep down where they would never resurface ever again.
Chante was not extroverted but he was also not introverted. He was a very mysterious person. He was very similar to Adrian. The similarity was that he too was in love with his friend. The fact that Chante was not really close to Adrian made him upset, but he was willing to accept defeat. Chante became a bit jealous as he observed the way Adrian looked at Harvey. He was upset due to the fact that Adrian and he were not on that level in their friendship.
It was all for the better. These boys knew that they couldn't tell their parents, they would be stupid to talk to someone about their buried feelings, those taboo feelings. They weren't living in a soap opera like the ones they would usually spend hours watching. As much as it upset them, they weren't living the typical teenage life. Meaning that their parents weren't going to act like the typical understanding parent.
