It was one of those days where you go out, and spend the entire day outside, not caring to rub on sunscreen or look at the weather for later on the day. Reki and Langa were so wrapped up in skateboarding that they didn't feel the sun burning their skin and they didn't notice the clouds until it suddenly started storming. Real hard.

The smell of rain after a very sunny afternoon spread quickly; entering Reki's nostrils sooner than he felt the actual rain. Not much later than that drops of water started pouring from the grey clouds.

It was refreshing. Reki had barely noticed how hot he actually was up to now, and the rain was cooling him down in the nicest way possible; slow, with a few drips at a time, but it soon started raining harder. Within seconds, it was storming so hard that his hair turned into a tangled, wet mess, which hang in front of his eyes in such a way that he could barely see the road in front of him.

With the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance, Langa stopped in his tracks. He did it so suddenly that Reki, who was right behind him, almost crashed into him.

"Dude, what the—" Reki shouted at Langa, trying to regain his balance on the board. He was about to tell Langa he shouldn't brake so suddenly, but when he looked over at Langa, he changed his mind.

Langa looked so peaceful. His face was directed at the sky, which filled up with more grey clouds over just a couple of seconds. Langa had his eyes closed as drips of rain splashed onto his face.

Reki stood there, watching Langa enjoy the rain.

When a faint smile appeared on Langa's face, Reki tried to do the same. He smiled, pretending that the rain wasn't freezing when dripping onto his sunburnt skin, but soon had to give in; chills were running down his spine, so he had goose bumps all over.

"Hey, Langa." Reki wrapped his arms around himself and felt how he started to shiver. He didn't think he'd be cold today; not when he'd been practically burning all day. "Let's go home, okay?"

Langa's eyes opened slowly and, blue and icy, they met Reki's through the rain pour. "Sure."

Reki smiled, watching from a short distance as Langa got onto his skateboard again. He thought about warning Langa that the roads could be a little slippery during a storm like this one, but then he remembered that Langa was used to riding on snow and ice; he wouldn't be bothered by the slick and smooth roads after a cloudburst.

And Reki wouldn't be stopped by this either, so he gave himself a push to catch up with Langa.

Through rain and thunder, they made their way home. At one point Reki got startled so badly, by the sound of a loud thunder, that he almost fell of his skateboard. He took a while to regain his balance, which was kind of annoying, but at least the two of them got a good laugh out of it.

When they reached Langa's home, even Langa was shivering as well and he was actually very used to the cold. But who wouldn't shake when everything, including their underwear, was soaking wet.

Langa was shaking so much that he could barely get the key in the keyhole, causing Reki to get even more drenched in rain than he already was. He wanted to help Langa out, but Reki was shivering too much himself; all he could do was stand there and watch Langa as he fiddled with the tiny, metal key.

So cold. He thought to himself, hugging his wet and muddy skateboard to his chest.

When the click finally sounded and the small key slid into the hole, Reki felt his heart jump a little. He was so eager to get out of this summer-storm that he tried to push past Langa, no matter how rude it may have seemed. Still, Langa managed to beat him, getting inside just a spit second earlier.
