Chapter 22: Neoteros

Lena looks at the person who looks exactly like her, wearing the exact same clothes she is wearing today but with many wounds around her.

Before this scene happened, Seventh has a face filled with fear.

Grabbing Lena and Eighth attempting to make an escape, but a mysterious dimension pulls all of them to it.

"Ugh, where are we?" Lena asked as she look around her surroundings.

Both children also look around and noticed that they are in a transparent dimension. They can see what's going on outside but can't go any further outside a specific perimeter.

The young girl named Seventh touched the invisible wall. Behind them, a terrifying aura spread within.

Even Lena who can't feel aura can feel the cold crawling in the surroundings.

Hiding the two children behind her back and looking in the direction where the cold air is coming from.

A black blob started crawling towards their direction and started to take form.

The form that it has revealed is a black liquid with a razor-sharp mouth and one black eye.

Lena can't help but tremble at what she is seeing. It is as if a nightmare has pop-out into reality.

The children are also in shock and terrified, trembling behind Lena and holding tightly on her clothes.

When the liquid is in front of the sitting Lena with the children on her back, the liquid moves its mouth.

"Swwweeeeets???" As it talks, its head also twists with it.

"S-sweets?" Lena said as her voice trembles.

"Do-do you want sweets?" Lena said as she composed herself.

Lena looks at the sling bag where she has stuffed some chocolates and candies, offering it to the ground fearing that handing it using her hand will be eaten too.

The blob looks at it in confusion and a hand without fingers formed, it looks like an arm of a teddy bear. It touches the offerings and looks at Lena in confusion.

"Umm, you need to remove the wrapper first. Let me remove it."

Lena put the unwrapped candy on the ground and the blob revealed a long tongue. It licks the candy then grabbed it using its tongue. It sat silently as if tasting the candy.

Everyone observes the being, silently.

Then suddenly it cries a loud voice making Lena and the children cover their ears.

Lena looked grim thinking that the being didn't like the taste. The blob once again goes near Lena with a smile.

With razor-sharp teeth, the looks of it are sinister no matter what angle you look at.

"Hey, if you ever meet my family tell them I love them and tell my friends that I am glad I have met them"

"Wha-what are you talking about?" Eighth said as she trembled in Lena's words.

Seventh was also shocked but readied herself to fight the moment the creature tried to attack them.

I think this is the end of me, yet I feel calm, Lena thought to herself.

Its appearance is terrifying but in the face of death, I wonder why I wasn't afraid of it ever since I was a child.

Lena closed her eyes as she face her death but a pat rest in her head. Lena was shocked as she looks at the terrifying smile of the creature.

"Delicious! You, friend!" It pats Lena's head gently as if afraid to hurt the weak friend.

The two children were also shocked.

"Elder pats when me good! You good! Give sweets!" It said in a terrifying voice.

It dances in a circle as if happy.

"Will you hurt us?" Eighth said as she looks at the blob.

"No! You with friend! Friend friends is friends!" It was confusing hearing its words, but the message is understood by everyone. At least it will not hurt them for now.

Lena opened another one and it enjoyed silently eating it.

Seeing the hungry look of the children, Lena offered some food that Uncle Ben has packed her. As always, it is a lot with variety of foods.

Children look with anticipation.

"Here, eat some. Use the spoon and fork because your hands are dirty."

The children look at Lena with confusion written on their faces.

Lena demonstrates using a fork to take a meatball and dip it in a sauce, then take a spoonful of rice to complement it.

Seeing how Lena do it, the children also copied her. As they taste the delicious food, they started to eat fast, enjoying the food.

"Hey slow down or you'll get choked." Hearing Lena's warning, they slow down and chew their food properly.

As they eat, Lena asked the creature who is busy savoring a lollipop. It has learned how to unwrap the sweets and started to devour them slowly seeing that it has a limited number of sweets.

How smart, I guess? Lena thought to herself.

"Excuse me, uhm, what's your name?"

"Neoteros! Name!" It said as it licks a lollipop.

"Neoteros, why did you pull us here?"

"Dangerous monster outside. Sinister and Evil!"

You know, you also looked terrifying, Lena thought.

As Lena started to look around, she realized a figure from a distance.

The dimension filters the sound from outside, the only thing I can hear is the sound inside of it.

Lena also hasn't realized the arrival of others since she is facing backward to them. From the forest, another creature is observing. It has caught a glimpse of Lena as they were sucked into another dimension.

Doppelganger, that's what humans called who have the ability to shapeshift in another's form. The creature has been killing people by mimicking others' faces.

Its plan was supposed to kill Lena, but with pure luck, she was saved in a unique way. Seeing that a batch of humans arrived, the creature smiled with sinister intentions.

By seeing once, it transformed itself into a wounded Lena.

*Kehehehe Humans sympathized with an injured human, they easily become vulnerable, and at that time I will strike and take them to my lair! * The creature thought to itself.

"Help, it hurts, somebody help" With Lena's voice, it pleads help to the humans in front of it.

But what it didn't know is that it has faced something terrifying. The looks of the humans that what it thought the food was filled with silent rage within.
