(I'll tell you when to play the song)

The sun meets my skin with a sweet kiss of welcome. We sat in a carriage made of expensive resources to flaunt my family's wealth. The couches are soft from magics or it could be the older way- animals. It hugs you in a way that a mother would lull you to sleep. I close my eyes, getting a moment to collect my thoughts. The rocking of the carriage along the ruff road soothed me. With a few moments of quiet, I felt eyes on me.

'Staring is rude," I mellowed.

"Will this be okay?'' I opened my eyes to look at my best friend, my closest confidant, Kaveah. I see her eyes flood with concern and uncertainty, "What if this cousin doesn't agree, or we don't have enough time or even-"

"If that does happen- we threaten them, remember, love." I stare into her eyes. I like the way it seems to dance like a small dim fire. I put a hand on her thigh and released a breathy chuckle, "Don't overthink too much." I give her a gentle smile of reassurance. She gives a big smile in return which causes me to smile even brighter. I take her hand to bring her over to my side, she hesitates for a second and then complies. She sits next to me with her head on my shoulder. I pet her gently, trying to reassure her of what we were doing. I see her chest smoothing out and her breathing becoming soft with sleep. I feel my eyes becoming heavy, resting my head upon hers, and soon sleep engulfs me into its gentle song.

____________

I awoke to a rude push of the carriage.

My eyebrows scrunched in confusion. I checked to see if kav was still asleep. Then, I whipped my head around to fast footsteps and quick mumbles. I looked back at Kaveah and gently laid her down on the carriage seats. I started to search for something to use as covers for her, once I did I laid it upon her. I stepped out of the carriage to investigate the commotion. The shouts only got louder. I could hear commands being said.

I quickened my steps, my suspicions growing the closer I got. I saw flashes of color and fast movement beyond the guards I saw. I moved next to one of the guards cowering, unsure of what to do.

"What is going on?" I cock a brow to the guard. A young girl, her height is most likely past her age that I see in her face. The fear grows quickly upon laying eyes on me. She stammers at her words, looking between me than at the problem I see that I have yet to fix. I sigh, seeing this is getting me nowhere. I take a breath then rest my hand upon her cheek flowing a pinch of my magic through her. The familiar feeling coursing through me, using a simple trick to get her to calm down. "Now tell me what's going on?" I ask again, releasing where my hand was, I rub the same hand off.

She looks at my hand more than at me. I grew impatient, "I asked you a question, didn't i?"
She looks up at me then shakes her head, my trick which I haven't used in a while setting in. "while we were heading to the phoenix kingdom. This" she scrunched her face. "bird, but it wasn't normal. It's a huge bird that started to attack us. We are trying to fight it off but I don't know why it's going on for this long." she shook her head in worry or maybe confusion, I couldn't care.

I nodded, "I see." I looked toward the commotion. I started to walk towards it when I was yanked back by a hand. I whipped around smacking the hindrance. I look back at the young girl, holding her hand in pain. I look at her with disgust, "I'm sorry, I was just wor-" She looks up at me in disbelief. I forget the effects my tricks had on regular people.

"You have no authority to be worried about me. Don't you ever put your hands on me again or it won't just end with a simple slap." I turn away, walking once again towards the beginning of all of this, feeling disgusted I rub the spot she touched me. I pushed through the crowd harshly, making my own way through. I looked at the group still fighting the huge bird as she described it.
