"Hey, Zack," a familiar voice said. I turned to see my best friend, Jason; someone you'd mistake for being in the army at first glance. He had the right build, and could easily join if he wanted to, but had dreams in music instead. We both wanted to do arts of some kind. He looks at me and continues, "I hear there's a few new job listings in town. One of them is that anime convention Carlos always talks about going to."

I brush my stray hairs out of my face while looking at him. He was referring to Freddy's Pizza and Anime, somewhere our friend Carlos has been trying to convince us nonstop about going. From his description, it sounded like hell. It was almost always busy, and apparently the main stars were Chuck E Cheese knock offs built for fanservice. But I'm actually expected to pay rent, and Jason decided to help.

"Yeah, I've been looking into everything but that one on purpose," I say, looking back at the passing cars.

Jason sighed, "Hey, I know how much you hate crowds, but" There's always a 'but' with Jason. It was a blessing and a curse, "I did my homework, and it's got an opening that would fit you perfectly!"

I just gave him the 'Are you sure about that' look. Jason stifled a laugh, and elaborates, "Okay, point taken. They have a night watchman job open, just someone to keep the place from being broken into!" He paused, letting me think about it.

Eventually, I was convinced to bite the bullet, and we headed off to the convention. The building was a complete opposite from the buildings around it. It was new, had neon signs everywhere, and stood out like a sore thumb. My eyes lingered over the busy entrance, and I was filled with dread.

"The pay best be good, or I just might kill you for this." I said as we walked in, and the scent of pizza and sweat hit me. I felt my adrenaline immediately spike as the sea of people crowded at the stage.

"If it isn't, I wouldn't blame you." Jason agreed, he seemed a little nervous too as he led me to the customer service counter. The blonde woman behind the counter looked up at us with a hint of panic in her eye.

"Oh, uh, how can I help you two today?" She said, with forced enthusiasm.

I opened mouth to speak, but Jason had other ideas. He grabbed my shoulder and said, "Do you think you could show my friend here where the manager's office is? He'd like to know more details about the open nightguard position you guys have."

The blonde woman looked relieved that there wasn't a problem, and said, "Please sir, follow me." I took my cue to follow, and glanced back to Jason, who gave me a reassuring smile and a thumbs up. It didn't really help, but I tried to return the smile anyway.

The customer service lady eventually leads me to a part of the side hallway that thankfully wasn't crowded. She entered a door that had a small plaque that read "Head Management" on it and led me inside. The small office had barely anything more than a cheap desk with a computer on it, a couple chairs, and a filing cabinet that looked like it was about to fall apart. After a quick glance, I realized there wasn't anyone behind the desk.

"I-I don't think they're here, so-" I began, and she swiftly went and sat down at the desk

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Kylie Emily, head manager of Freddy's." She said confidently. I awkwardly sat down across from her as she grabbed a packet from the filing cabinet, "Now then, let's get this interview started, shall we?"

"Uh, there seems to be a mistake, ma'am," I spoke up, mildly surprising myself. Normally I'd stay quiet in these types of situations.

"What's wrong? I thought your friend said you wanted the job?" She said, obviously confused.

"I just wanted to know the details, like pay, what I'd be doing exactly. Stuff like that," I glanced at her and started panicking, "N-nothing's set in stone for me, I just like to cover my bases is all."
