Kara
Rain pelted the windows of the diner where I work, causing me to let out a quiet sigh as I cleaned up the table that once held costumers before they left wanting to escape the storm before it got bad.
It wasn't like I could blame them. It was fall and the days have had a harsh chill too them, signaling the beginning of winter was not far off and lately the weather has been unpredictable here in LA.
After running a rag over the wooden table, I made my way too the back of the diner since no other customers needed attending too. I pushed my way between the swinging doors and came into the kitchen.
The smell of meat and spices filled my nose and the sound of sizzling vegetables and boiling noodles filled the room. The kitchen was small but had enough room too fit at least five or six people. There was steel counters and two sinks and stoves long with a decent sized oven we often used too make our cakes.
Snapping my eyes to one of the stoves, I saw James Savk, one of our cooks besides Wendy Quec and Tom Noles flipping a patty. James is a short man with a bit of a belly and a graying head with amber eyes and a joking personality that often cheered most people up in this diner. As if sensing my stare, James head snapped up and gave me a small smile.
"If your done, Alex is in the back, trying too charm one of the new waiters." James said flashing his teeth, making crinkles appear on his already somewhat wrinkled skin.
I gave a small snort, knowing very well that my roommate Alex was most likely flirting up a storm with our new female waiter. If I hadn't lived with him for many years I would have doubted it but Alex was Alex, wait no is Alex is Alex and that's a normal for him. His play boy attitude. If he didnt know my secret I probably would have moved out from our apartment long ago.
"I guess I should save the poor girl." I muttered at that thought and I made my way to the back of the kitchen and opened a door that lead to the employee room and too Alex.

"Oh come on Kara! If I had ten more minutes I would of had her!" Alex groaned as I closed the door to his red truck.
"And that is exactly why we left." I stated bluntly as I turned on the car's heater on full blast.
"You mean we left because she went all love struck on you once she saw how 'Hot' you were." Alex said pouting. I ignored him and rolled my eyes.
"Besides aren't you still dating that girl ... Lilly?" I questioned as I pulled on my seat belt as we left the diner's parking lot.
Alex smirked and his eyes brightened. "You mean Hanna? And no we broke up." Alex said as he drove his truck onto the highway.
I let out a stressed sigh. Alex is always dating girls left and right it was hard to keep up. Though he only used them, sometimes he would keep them around for company.
