Chapter 4: The Targets

As I woke up I was in Lucas' arms, the last thing I remember was hitting the van door then it went all black. I get up slowly so as not to wake Lucas, and grab one of the Scar's and post up in his van.

"Damn, Lucas, what happened to the van?" I mutter to myself.

As I wait for daybreak I see the two Hives on the ground, I drag them to the hidden area where Lucas set camp and stripped them of their Hive Suits. I looked at the sizes and they can fit us both, just great.

"Nice to see that you're up early," Lucas says, surprising me.

"Ahhh, Lucas, that's not cool!" I yell "Sneaking up on me like that, I could've shot you"

"Calm down, tiger" Lucas chuckles

I playfully punch his shoulder and we start to make our way to The Hive's base labeled The Runes Nest due to its quality to find everything and everyone in the globe, except Deviants.

Midway into the small town we ran into some more Hives, the closer you get the more Elite they become, two of the E-Hives ran close to us but Lucas shot one with his Scar and I pulled out my Karambit Knife, and slash at the other E-Hive's leg, bringing him down to one knee, as he falls to one knee I shuffle behind him and slice across his chest killing him instantly.

"Good job, Badass" Lucas exclaims

"Shut up Lucas" I laugh

Four more E-Hives appear and luke takes down two at once, one with a bullet and one with a kick, crushing the Trachea of the other E-Hive

. As the E-Hive dropped to the floor I grab one of them by the arm, snapping their wrist, and grip my Glock 19 from my waistband shooting one in the head and breaking the arm of the other.

In turn, Lucas grabs his Karambit Knife and slits the E-Hives throat leaving him to bleed to death in the street.

Lucas and I look at The Runes Nest as it looms over them with a terrifying feeling that this is going to be a battle that we might not win.

"You ready, Ruby?" asks Lucas

"Always" I reply
