Chapter 13 part 1

 It's been four years since Dally and Johnny died. Ponyboy went off to college a year back, boy the gang has not been the same with out him. He got himself a fancy scholarship and me and Dar helped with the rest. Darry started going to the Community College for night classes, we do have to pay but not too much like a fancy college.

I started working two jobs my main at the DX and a second at the at conner store. I was working at the DX with my buddy Steve when I heard the familiar voice of Two-Bit "Guess who just got let off?" Steve walked over to him and put an arm around his neck holding him in a head lock. "What were you hailed in for this time bud?" Steve asked letting go of his neck. I watched them walk over to me. "Yeah, what was it this time?" He smiled and laughed "Some sharp-eyed broad saw me try to lift a few packs of cigarettes." He leaned to me and whispered. "She looked like that Sandy girl you used to date." I haven't thought about Sandy in years, after she went to Florida. It can't be. Why is she back? "Soda? Soda you ok, you zoned out for a minute." Steve was waving his hand in front of my face. "Yeah. I just never thought she would come back." I said my voice was shaking a bit.

When I got home from work, I took my shoes off and almost thew a jacket on the couch, but I put it on a chair. Dally was just about to leave when he saw me. "What happen?" Ever since Pony came back home from the church, he has been keener when he saw something was wrong with me or Pony or just any of the gang. 'Sandy's back." I said with a slight hatred in my voice but not just hate sadness remaindering, how she cheated and left me. I still have the letter I wrote her, and she sent back, I don't know why I kept it. Maybe to give it to her when I saw her again, it is just pinned to the corkboard over desk fading in the sun. But what ever the reason it's still there to remind me about the girl who stole my heart and never gave it back. "How did you find out." Darry said with a sense of awkwardness in his voice. "Two-Bit came by the DX and told me." I said my voice was a clam ocean "Oh Soda, I am so sorry." Darry looked at the clock "I have to go, bye Pepsi-Cola" I smile at my nicknamed Dad gave me and said, "Bye Superman." I went to bed thinking about what to do. I already have a new girl, Cynthia. She anit to greasy but not a soc, she is one of us. She and that Cherry Valence go to school together. She had long ink black hair that was always up in a ponytail, small chunks would be in her face. Dark eyes the seamed to change in the light sometimes black sometimes blue. That girl has the softest smile in the world but when she was hacked off, she looks like a wolf that is about to attack. I gave her the nickname Siris for her love of the stars and how wolf like she could get.

I woke up to someone knocking on thedoor. Witch was weird cause the everyone knows that the door is always unlocked.I got up and saw Darry was passed out in his bad, I walked over to the door.When I opened it, I saw the blonde-haired China blue eyed who run off toFlorida, Sandy. "Oh, Soda hey. Good youstill live here. Umm can you do me a favor and look after my kids for me justfor a week. I have a job interview and I can't get in touch with my parents."She was stuttering the whole time. "Do you want to come in and sit down?" I askdumbfound that she would come to me. "Yeah. In a minute." She went to her carand got her kid, a pair of twins one boy and one girl. When Sandy sat down hertwo kids just stood there looking around. "Soda this is Mark and Susan." Shegushers to the kids "Hey guys" I say I still can't believe she came back to me."This is Sodapop he is going to look after you two for a little while." Mark looked at me and said, "Is that really, yourreal name?" "Yep, it even says so on my birth certificate." I see his eyes getwide. "Okay Sands." I say with sigh "But I want you to know I am not gettingback with you." I get up and grab the letter from the broad. When I get back toher, I hand it to her "Read it this time." I look at her kids and see themstanding there. "Ok" she says and kiss's both kids heads and hug me. "Thank youthank you soda." She whispers in my ear. "Okay bye kids be good for Soda."
