When I enter the training room, I am greeted by Lily, who is fiddling with a bow. "Forgotten how to use it?" I ask with a laugh.
"How to make it, actually."
"Here," I grab it, and take it apart, straightening out the string...kind of violently.
"You ok?"
"Yeah."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"You seem to be...taking out some anger on that bow."
"Mhm." I fasten the string to one end of the bow.
"You're answering in one word sentences."
"Oh."
"There it is again!" She snatches the bow out of my hand, and sets it aside. "Talk to me."
"I'm fine."
"It's progress. See, two words. Notice that talking about it helps." She winks at me, and waits for a response.
"I wasn't even talking about it."
A huge grin appears across her face. I roll my eyes at her, and try to grab the bow. She smacks my hand away, "No, we're talking."
"Aren't we supposed to be working out?"
"There's no room." She points her thumb over her shoulder at the large group of boys in the work-out section. My eyes immediately dart to Minho, who is running in place with two weights in his hands, and yelling at all of the other Gladers to keep going. It's comical, actually. "Besides, I'm a little off my A-game."
I hand her the now fixed bow, and she takes a shot at the target. "A little?"
"I was close."
"It hit the wall." I walk over, and yank it out. "Let me show you how it's done." I spin the arrow once in my hand as I take the bow. I step further back then she was, and let the arrow fly.
Perfect.
"Whatever. That was all you did in the Glade. I at least had a job."
"What? A builder? You think being a Peace Keeper was easy? How about you spend a month in the Glade by yourself."
Shaking her head, she walks over to the bows and arrows rack. "Why are we shooting with these pieces of klunk when we've got these." She picks up a bow similar to the one I used in the Battle of the Cranks. "Beautiful," she declares while scanning the work of art. I never noticed how truly amazing it was. How easy it made shooting.
"Can you even shoot that?"
"Can you even shut your hole?" She lifts the bow, "Crap...I forgot an arrow."
I snort at her. "Wow."
"That has nothing to do with my shooting skills!" She reaches over to grab an arrow. "I can't help that your disrespectful remarks were distracting me."
"What? Are you my mom now?"
"You're the one to talk." She lets the arrow fly, hitting the target in a bull's eye. "Ha."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, taking the bow from her, and grabbing an arrow from the rack.
"You basically did everything for us in the Glade."
There it is. My constant reminder of the Maze. "I-"
"But I never really got your job. Like...were you a Runner? A leader? Or the shuck Peace Keeper. I never understood."
"Well, a lot of girls needed my help. If being a Peace Keeper was all I did...I'd probably get fat."
She lets out a small chuckle, "Yeah, I guess so. Don't you think it's weird?"
"What?" I lift my bow to face the target.
"Remembering what you had forgotten. Then remembering what it was like to have forgotten."
"You're killin' me." I aim the arrow at a target different from Lily's.

Target acquired.
10mph
Release when ready.

Man, I miss that. "And our names." My fingers release from the arrow in shock.
"What about them?" I ask without lowering my bow.
"They're the same. I thought WICKED gave them to us."
I let my arms fall to my side without dropping the weapon. "Yeah." I almost forgot about how I brought that up to Newt.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"There it is again."
"Hm?"
"The one word sentences. I doubt that last one even counted as a word. What's wrong?"
"It's just...I was thinking the same thing too."
"And how I remember feeling something, but not what it felt like."
"Yes." I feel my eyes widen.
"But...WICKED probably kept our names...because we're new people now. New people, new names."
"Yep, except that doesn't explain the feelings."
"Maybe we're being paranoid about all of this. Maybe we're not supposed to remember what things feel like." She scratches the back of her head.
"But I remember what it felt like...when Newt kissed me."
"He's kissed you since we got here?"
I nod my head. "Has Thomas kissed you?"
She laughs, "No. We held hands that one time when you died. But nothing really since then. Just talking. I don't blame him, though. Both of his past girlfriends...you know."
I look over at Minho again, who is running around all of the guys with even bigger weights. "My gosh." Lily looks over at him, and we both burst into laughter.
Maybe this convorsation is over with...
