Laying my head on a large rock, I pulled my blanket over me. The cave I was in was damp, but it was all I had. I couldn't go back home. That place has never been home at all. With my older sister constantly being a bitch and hurting me, and my parents not caring, it just wasn't worth it.

Even with the blanket and my two jackets on, I was freezing. It was not really because of the temperature, I was just always cold no matter what. That was one of the reasons I was bullied at school. I'm a shivering shy girl constantly reading books and listening to music. I see why they a hated me. I hated me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a tall man wearing black and white. He looked much like a clown, which was kinda funny for me. The black and white clown was staring at me and smiling psychotically.

Surprisingly, I wasn't scared, which was strange for me. I was usually always frightened of everything, as to me, everything had the potential to hurt me. Cautious, I was.

The strange clown started walking over to me. I knew I couldn't play dead, because he'd already seen me moving. So I just lay there, hoping he wasn't really coming over to me.

"Hi, kiddo," The clown smiled, showing off his jagged teeth. "You really shouldn't be out here all alone. Especially a young girl like yourself."

"And why not?" I asked, smirking a little. "Why shouldn't I be here?"

"I've been given strict orders to..." He started laughing like a mad man. "Kill any trespassers!"

"Fine. Go ahead. I really couldn't care less. It's not like anyone wants or needs me, let alone cares about me. Nobody will notice." I said with no emotion.

"What's your name, kiddo?" The clown questioned, holding my chin to face him.

"Well, it's definitely not 'kiddo'." I grinned.

"Then what is it?" I could smell candy on his breath.

"Harper. Harper Ynez."

"Okay, Harper, please come with me. My boss may find something good to do with you. I'm Laughing Jack, by the way."

I was taken to a large mansion located in the centre of the dense pine forest. At the time I went in, there were three people in what looked like a living room, and two in the kitchen. The three in the living room were playing video games, and the ones in the kitchen were making waffles.

Laughing Jack took me to a room upstairs, and told me not to freak out about what his boss looks likes. It couldn't be that bad, could it? Well, I was wrong.

Jack's boss was a tall, faceless man wearing a suit. He scared me slightly, that was more like me. My candy eating clown friend left me with the faceless man.

"Do you know who I am?" He asked, and I didn't even know how. How can someone without a mouth talk?

"No, sir." I shook my head.

"I am Slenderman, child." He said with little emotion. "And you're Harper."

"How did you know, sir?" I asked, confused at how he knew.

"I can read minds, child." Why did he keep addressing me as 'child'? Yeah, I was a 12 year old, but it was pissing me off.

"Why does it annoy you that I call you child?" Slenderman questioned.

"It just does. I don't know why."

"We must get back onto to task, Harper. First question. What's your backstory. I can tell if you lie."

I took a deep breath. "Well, at school, everyone hates me and they're always beating me up and speaking cruel words to me. And then, at home, my sister does the same, and my parents don't really care. Nobody does.

And when I find someone and become close to them, they always die. When I was 4, I had my first best friend. She got cancer and died. 5 was a car crash. I never had friends when I was 6. 7 was murder. 8 was kidnapped and never seen again. I don't know if he's dead or not. 9 died in a plane crash. 10 died in surgery on her heart. And I haven't gotten close to anyone since."

"Okay, why were you in my forest?"

"To get away from everything."

"Do you have any strange conditions?"

"I don't think this really counts, but I'm always cold and shivering, no matter what. That's one of the reasons I'm picked on. Also insomnia. And depression. And I self-harm."

"Do you fear death?"

"Pirates of the Caribbean, much?"

"Answer the question, child."

"No, I don't fear death. I try to embrace death. After all, it's my friend. And so is pain."

"Have you ever killed anyone?"

"No, but I'm considering it."

"Have you ever attempted suicide?"

"Many, many times."

"Would you become a killer?"

"Yeah, I guess. It looks kinda fun."

"Welcome to the family."

Laughing Jack came back and introduced to everyone else. There was an elf looking guy named BEN.

"You can call me Your Majesty." BEN joked.

Then there was this guy with a smile cut into his face named Jeff. There was a guy always wearing a mask named Masky, a guy who always wore a hoody named, you guessed it, Hoody. And there was a guy with a mouthguard and goggles who always ticked and twitched named Toby.

This was my family.
