JASON GRAYSON
“Wake up, dumb ass,” I heard my best friend's annoying voice as he patted my shoulder. I groaned attempting to pull the duvet over my head, but he snatched it to my disappointment.
“You don't get to enjoy a nice sleep, when I couldn't even get a wink last night.” He grumbled as I sat upright, leaning on the headboard.
“What did I do now?” I whined, frowning, wondering what I did to deserve my sleep getting cut short.
“Boys,”
“Viv,” I found myself smiling once my eyes landed on the gorgeous woman. She made her way to me. “I am glad you are here,” I told Max's fiancée, Vivian, as she kissed my forehead.
“Is he giving you a hard time?” She eyed Max and I nodded with a scowl.
“ To be fair, you gave him worse last night.” She chuckled, ruffling my hair, and sat beside me. My gaze searched Max's face for a clue of what I did last night, which seemed to have him peeved.
“You don't remember, do you?” Viv chuckled as I shook my head warily.
“How can he?” Max grumbled, “he was too busy coating my clothes with his puke to think.”
Oh! Boy.
But something else happened. I could tell from the way Viv was struggling to hold in a laugh, while Max shifted uneasily, scratching his head awkwardly.
“What else did I do?” I asked curiously, narrowing my gaze at Viv because I knew I would break her fast. She grinned, reaching for her phone, making me more confused. That confusion increased once she showed me a picture.
It was me and Max… kissing. How? I furrowed my brows thoughtfully, trying to remember anything from last night. I do remember eating, and drinking… A lot, of dancing, but nothing about kissing.“I heard you were whining for not having anyone to kiss at midnight.” Viv teased!
“So he kissed me?” I asked incredulously, glancing at Max. He wouldn't meet my gaze, not instantly anyway.
“I had to shut you up,” he grumbled.
“With a kiss?” I blurted out.
“I had no duct tape,” he shot back, meeting my gaze with a glare. After a thoughtful silence, he added, “There was no tongue.” That's when I understood why he was pissed. He was taking the defensive mode with me because he feared I will be pissed once I found out he kissed me. He can be dumb every so often. Nothing would ever make me hate him.
“What a shame,” I grinned, letting him know I was cool with it. “Let me see that again,” I took Viv's phone and scrutinized the picture which she apparently received from my sister. “My first new year's kiss and I can't even remember,” I drawled. “How was it?” I shot Max a smirk, getting a smile out of him.
“The worst I ever had,” the glint in his eyes told me we were okay. And that's all I ever wanted.
“How are you so cool with this?” I asked a calm Vivian.
She laughed, “I am just disappointed I missed it.” She appeared to be in thought, “do you think you can do it again, for me?” Her enthusiasm was hilarious to watch. You would think as a fiancée she would be furious.
'No!' and a 'hell no!', from Max and I respectively. We held a straight face for a minute or so before we all burst out laughing.
“You are officially going down as my next of kin,” Max told Viv.
“Why?”
“In case anything happens to me, he will be taken care of, by you,” Max said with a straight face referring to me. It sent Viv into another fit of laughter.
“I'm not so bad,” I argued.
“You wish,” Max scoffed.
