Dream POV.
I was about to go to the front door to leave my house, but was stopped by my girlfriend's sweet voice calling out to me.
"Baby, are you leaving already?"
She was just walking from the living room to the entrance where I was waiting with my keys in hand.
Her blond, curly hair was down that day and fell casually over her shoulders.
Her attire consisted of a simple red dress and heeled shoes of the same color, which made a noticeable noise as she walked towards me."Yes, Sapnap texted me that George has been released by Puffy and I need to speak to him, it's relatively urgent."
She didn't seem to like that answer very much and rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her chest, but I took her hands in mine and gave her an encouraging smile.
"I'll be back in about four hours, alright? We can order something for dinner and watch a movie if you want?"
Samantha smiled sadly and nodded silently before folding her hands behind my neck, pulling me down to her and guiding me into a kiss after I placed my own hands at her sides.
Her lips left a red imprint on mine from her lipstick, which made us both laugh a little.
I wiped the makeup off my face with the back of my hand and looked down at her, she locked eyes with me and smiled softly at me."Please be careful when driving."
I smiled at her reassuringly.
"Of course. See you later then, I love you."
She nodded silently again and turned back to the living room, I turned around and walked towards the front door, this time actually going to my car to finally drive to the headquarters and thus also to George.
Of course he wasn't the only reason I left, although I would have gone there even if it had only been him anyway.
Wilbur had texted me earlier and said there was a problem with the Hawk in the basement and he needed my direction and support, both emotionally and physically, so I tied both matters into one visit and planned on speaking to George as well as helping Will. With my mind set on my plans for the day, I opened my car door, got in and just a few seconds later was on the street on my way to the quarters.
I hoped the reason for Will's text wasn't too bad as I was starting to lose patience with the Hawk.
Wilbur had told me that killing him outright might be a bad idea since his group and clients may still be of importance to our own interests.
You could get some favors from them by threatening to kill their leader or their weapons dealer, or get hold of their weapons and explosives.Although I considered it, I ultimately decided to let it go (❄️) as I usually always kept my word and didn't want to change that by killing the Hawk.
If I made this deal with his confidants, I would have to lie to them and claim that the Hawk would come back unharmed, but after the planned torture and death penalty after all his deeds, that would no longer be true.
Perhaps he deserved more than that, all of his victims, including George, suffered so much more than he would, but I insisted on my humanity towards all those who had caused me or my loved ones suffering and pain, even if I personally wanted to make him suffer more than what I had intended for him. With a quick glance at my watch I realized that the car ride would not take more than fifteen minutes and smiled to myself.
For some reason I didn't know, I was looking forward to the visit, even though I knew very well that Will's words definitely could not mean anything good.
Maybe it was the adrenaline, maybe it was the fact that I could meet Sapnap and the others.
Of course, being able to see George again was just a bonus.Ever since he woke up, Sapnap and I would take turns staying with him every day when Puffy allowed us, although it often wouldn't take long before she came back to do tests, give him medication, change his bandages or to examine his wounds.
It made me smile to think how protective and caring Puffy was with him, she always forced us out of the room when she entered so as not to overwhelm George or something.
It warmed my heart to know that the brunette was in good hands. He was very nice and I immediately understood why Sap liked him so much and spoke of him so often.
It just made you happy to talk to him, or just to be in the same room as him and listen when he talked about something, especially when that topic made him excited or happy and you could see that perfectly in his eyes as they expressed his feelings in a unique way.
Yes, it was always a great pleasure to converse with George.I pulled into the headquarters' driveway with a smile and glanced at my watch again.
Luckily I was on time which would probably make things easier for Wilbur as he seemed very nervous when he sent the message.
A few minutes later I was standing in the entrance of the building and I saw Ranboo running towards me, he seemed to be looking for me and raised his eyebrows when we made eye contact.
The 18 year old was out of breath when he came to a stop, his breathing probably being restricted a bit by his face mask and running, but I knew he would refuse to pull the mask down. Of course I understood him, he had every right to cover his face as not wearing it made him a bit uncomfortable."Dhr- dhream... Wh- whil... Buh, y- hou, have t- to... Cum... Co- homputer-... Now!"
He leaned forward and put his hands on his knees, panting, so I gave him a slightly concerned smile and put a hand on his back.
"Calm down, Ranboo, catch your breath and go drink a bit of water. I'm going to the computer room, but take some time to collect yourself, okay?"
He nodded slightly while still trying to get his breathing back to normal, I gave him a half-hearted smile and then made my way to my new destination.
I walked the various hallways and corridors of the house with concern, Will would never rush like this unless it was absolutely urgent.
My stride quickened each time my sole hit the ground, getting more nervous to the point that I started running towards the computer room when it was already in sight. The door hit the wall with a loud bang as I yanked it open, immediately seeing Wilbur staring at one of the screens in concern.
He looked up from his work and frowned in desperation as if trying to resolve his apparent problem with just my presence.
Before I could open my mouth to say anything, or to ask what was going on, he murmured something."No recording, no picture, no surveillance alarm, no- nothing!
Everything... Everything, just... gone!"I walked up to him and stood next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder while trying to read something from his words.
"Will, what happened? What's gone?"
"They... They're all just dead, as if there was an outage, but there wasn't! Otherwise Karl would have sent me a message long ago, it can't be true!"
"Wilbur! Answer me, please!"
I gripped his shoulder tighter until he finally looked me in the eyes, shaking, and saying a phrase that made my heart stop for a second.
"The Hawk is gone."
