"How does it feel to be the shortest one here?"
"Haha Kane loses again."
"Look how he walks, aye bro why can't you walk normally?"
"Shut the f*ck up, Kane!"
"Seriously, why are you so cringy?"
"No cares....."
Kane always put a smile on his face when the guys piled the insults and "jokes" on him. What could he do but laugh away his pain, he couldn't show any vulnerability. Kane thought everyone would mock him, laugh in his face for showing such weakness.
Kane Ratan is the 7th member of the NorthStar Boys, as he was the last one to join the group. He was doing everything he could be doing before he joined the group, in college almost about to graduate, making it on the volleyball team, having a great group of friends who enjoyed him rather than insult him. Although he had a great life going for him behind the gates in his heart he wasn't happy, he wanted something different, rather he dreamed of it. Every time he opened Tik Tok or saw youtubers he couldn't help but want that life.
On his 22nd birthday his dream would be coming to life, enjoying his day laughing around with his friends. Kane's brother Ty came to him and told him he wants to introduce him to some people who are content creators. Kane confided to Tyler about his dreams. Ty being the big brother he is, wanted to make his little brother's dreams happen. Feeling hesitant, maybe he should stay in his shell. It's safe, warm, and secure. The louder part of himself felt if he ever wanted his dreams to happen he needed to step outside his comfort zone, take this risk. With his nerves jolting, hands clammy and some words of encouragement from his friends he agrees to meet them. Ty takes him over to the two people who will open the door for him, Oliver and Sebastian Moy.
The Moy brothers weren't widely known yet but they were making a name for themselves. Kane was in awe with them, it was his own birthday party but you couldn't help but feel like a guest at their party. Everyone was stopping them, trying to talk to them, asking to take pictures of them and with them or some people were gawking at them too intimidated.
Suddenly Kane wasn't feeling confident in himself, he was just a dorky guy with an anime addiction. What would they see in him? Ty seeing the downcasted look on his brother's face, he stopped and grabbed him, "Kane I know what you're thinking but don't worry, be yourself, they'll love you and if they don't then that's their loss. You have greater strengths than you think. So hold your head up, take a deep breath and go wow them."
Kane couldn't keep the smile from forming as his big brother always knew what to say, pushing away the doubts and fears he walked up to Oliver and Sebastian. "Hey guys, I'm Kane Ratan"..... With that it sparked the greatest thing to ever happen to him, or was it the worst.
As time went on he was introduced to the guys he would be spending everyday with, immediately he felt like an outsider. Ryan, Justin, Darren and Regie already had a close friendship knowing each other since the beginning of the year, Oliver and Seb had already spent time with them in Dallas. Kane only knew the Moy brothers but not that well. The brothers did what they could to include him since the other four never thought (wanted) to invite him to outings. He pushed his inner thoughts away, it was too soon to run home with his tail between his legs. This was his dream and he was going to do whatever it took and put up with whatever was thrown his way.
As time went on his mindset was slowly starting to change, it was now a couple months since The NorthStar Boys was formed. Kane assumed they would back off or at least treat him as a friend. They didn't let up if anything they got harsher, sure they would do Tik Toks with him mostly Regie he was admittedly a softie. Still he couldn't help but feel it was just pity. Filming their YouTube videos and Tik Toks, Kane knew he wasn't the most popular member in the group, hardly anyone asked for him, left thirsty comments for him, or asked for him to be in the other members Tik Toks. It was starting to weigh on his spirit, there was a running joke of him always walking away or wandering off. He never said but he went off on his own because he didn't feel like a true member and usually it took about 30 minutes for someone to realize he wasn't there. In the back of his mind he secretly hoped that one of the guys would notice right away and come seek him out, bring him back and tell him they needed him in the video. Every time he was horribly let down, they didn't care for him. When Ryan or Darren disappeared it was immediately noticed they would stop filming and go and search for them, making sure everything was okay. Why couldn't they do that for him? Kane thought.
