"Hey, Ronnie. How was your day?" I asked my adorable, but grumpy cat. I had just had a long, fun day at summer camp. It was the last day. We had water slides and an ice cream party. I am super excited because I have gotten my gymnastics team into the state finals against the best team in California!

I'm Becca Sparks, and I'm soon to be the best gymnast in the world. Have you heard of Simone Biles? She's awesome at gymnastics and so am I. We are so alike! Anyway, I am freaking out and practicing because my gymnastics competition is in 5 weeks!

"Becca, dinner!" My mom called. So much for my practicing. I walked down the steps, and my stomach was screaming more and more the farther I got down. When I got to the kitchen, I made my stomach stop. '' MEATLOAF? I can't eat this, Mom, remember? Coach Jess said to eat all healthy foods until the competition!" I told her. "Sweetie, it's okay, I am giving you only a bit of meatloaf and I am making you a souffle made of fruits and vegetables. I ate my meatloaf very very quickly. My mom makes the BEST souffle. Especially when she adds fruits and vegetables! When I was done with my delicious souffle, I only had 15 minutes to practice before bed! After I practiced, I got a good night's sleep just like Coach Jess told us to.

The next morning I had a quick breakfast of cereal and toast, I got on my leotard and headed to practice. When I got there, I was the second one there. The first person there was my bestie, Mia Park.

Coach Jess got there shortly after, and we had some time to practice before she came. When she got there, we went to bars , which I am horrible at. I did a flip, but I messed up and fell on my arm! "AHHHHHHHHH!" I screamed. The other girls raced to me and Coach Jess was on her phone with a worried look on her face.

When I woke up I saw a white room with strange equipment and heard beeping all around me. Then I realized I was in the hospital. "Wow, my arm must have fallen hard." I thought. I looked at my arm, hoping for the best. But it was the worst instead. There was a cast on it and it hurt to move. I also saw that my leg was all black and blue. Oh. No. I have my competition in 4 weeks and 6 days! Suddenly, my mom noticed I was awake and said, "It's a miracle!!" I guess I had been out for a long time. She told me something else, very softly. "I'm sorry sweetie, but you can't do gymnastics for 7 weeks and you will need to stay in the hospital for another 3 hours. You broke your arm and twisted your ankle. I am so sorry." Then it hit me. I couldn't compete. My team couldn't compete. We had an extra person for the competition just in case, but now we have one less. And Mia says she will not compete. Luckily, she was here to see me at the hospital too. She came over to me and said, "Becca, I am so sorry you can't compete. But I will do it." I was so happy, even though I couldn't compete. Mia could take our team to victory! "Thank you. I hope we win and I just want to tell you, win or lose, we will always be best friends." I told her.

That night, when I got home after those dreadful 3 hours passed, I was going to see my bedroom again! When I got off the hospital bed, I had a shocking discovery: I needed a wheelchair. I hopped in and I could not push it myself so my mom had to do it. "How am I supposed to get up the stairs in the apartment building?? Am I going to be able to draw? Will I miss school? School starts in 3 weeks." I had a LOT of questions. But luckily mom had answers. "You will get upstairs with the elevator, you can draw with your left hand, and no, you will not miss school, unless you have to go to the hospital for checkups." She told me.

I sat down on the couch and mom put on my favorite channel so I could be entertained.
