~ peetas perspective ~

I hated being in district 11, and I knew katniss would hate me for being here longer than just for picking up the pills, I knew after about a week she'd been feeding them to the cat so it was quite an ordeal going searching for a cat friendly version. I decided on catnip pills as a substitute. But that wasn't what I was really here for..

District 11 was so different from home. It was very relaxed, with not a drop of capitol in sight. The people where ordinary and it brought a sense of old home back to me. It reminded me of the early days when I gave katniss that bread. The good old days.. I wish she would come  see it but I knew there was about a 2% chance she would ever leave 12. I never sought to ask so to be honest I just presumed she preferred the atmosphere of twelve.

I had the perfect plan for this evening. With Effie's help I planned to do a romantic picnic-style dinner for me and katniss in the meadows. And with the company of the soon to be mr and mrs Abernathy (I know, it shocked me too) propose mine and haymitch's plans to create a small group of 2-4 houses in the meadow. A house to accommodate me and katniss, one for haymitch and Effie, and two spare ones, in hopes Johanna or maybe even Annie would stop by for a while someday.

I knew for a fact haymitch would've let slip to Effie about our plans. I just prayed that she hadn't told katniss. But nothing was safe in the hands of Effie. Except a heeled shoe, or a sparkly dress and the occasional blinged up hand purse.

I stopped by a couple stores, including a jewelers. Was it to early? I don't know man. Maybe another time..

my brain was talking for itself and all of a sudden I was in the store purchasing a ring with a yellow citrine stone in the middle. Prims favorite colour. Now or never peeta, now or never.

I repeated those words constantly as I walked from the jewelers to the train point, from the train point to twelve, through downtown twelve and all the way home. Where I saw a slightly solemned katniss sat on the front steps. I knew what she was going to say. I could see it across her face. I just knew it...
