Bri's POV -
I walked into the house with the bags into my hands. I managed to open the front door despised the amount
of bags in my hands. When I walked in, I heard the T.V.on, meaning my mom was home.
"Mom! I'm home," I said.
"Okay, sweetie," She said. I live with my single mother
alone in a small town in Illinois. I put down the groceries
and saw she was writing on an article.
"What's that?" I asked.
"Oh, it's just the disappearances with the people in the
town," She said. I nodded and went to go put the
groceries away. I went up to my room and I went to do
my homework. I went downstairs and saw my mom
talking to some guy.
"Mom?" I asked.
"Huh? Oh honey this is Dean, an old friend of mine.
Dean, this is Bri," My mom said. I looked at him and
he had a surprised and a little shock expression.
"Hi. I'm Bri," I said.
"Dean," He said. I smiled and looked at my mom.
"Can I go out?" I asked.
"Sure. I want you back at 8 though," She said. I nodded
and grabbed my bag.
"Bye mom. Nice to meet you Dean," I said. I got in my car and went to the little cupcake shop to meet up with
my friends. I parked my bike and met up with them.
"Hey guys," I said.
"Hey girl. We were just talking," My friend, Malia, said
"About?" I asked taking a seat next to her.
"The father daughter dance. We need to go dress
shopping," Lydia said. I frowned and looked down.
"Oh. Sorry Bri . We forgot," Kira said. I looked
up and gave them a small smile.
"It's okay. Besides, I wouldn't be surprise if he came
back," I said. We just spent the day talking until I went back home. I walked in and I saw my mom sitting on the couch.
"Hey," She said.
"Hey," I said. I started to walk upstairs until I stopped. I turned around and looked at her.
"Mom. Where's my dad?" I asked. I haven't asked that question since I was in kindergarten. She looked up at me and sighed."Why do you wanna know?" She asked.
"The father-daughter dance is coming up and I just
want to know where he's at. Or if he's still alive," I said.
"He's still alive. But, I just don't think you're ready," She said. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.
"Mom. I'm 16. I should know about my dad now," I said.
"No Bri! You aren't ready! "She said.
"Why mom? I am ready to face the truth. The main
question is, are you ready?" I asked.
"I'm not ready to tell you who your father is. Now go
upstairs," She said. I ran upstairs and shut my door
tight. I changed out of my clothes and went to bed.
