I hope to expect an owl soon. Yours truly,

Lucius Arcturus Malfoy

Mother read the letter aloud to my siblings and I at the table. My older sister, Aris, was entranced at the mention of a gala. I, on the other hand, was everything but. It was my eleventh birthday. I was expecting a different letter. My Hogwarts letter, the one thing I've had my mind set on since I could form words.

Suddenly my sister spoke breaking me out of my thoughts, "Oh mommy, do I get to wear the pretty dress I bought for my birthday?" Could she be more annoying? Honestly, the dress is ghastly. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing it. It's frilly and full of pastels and flowers. "Sweetheart, you can wear whatever your heart desires" my father spoke. "What that ugly thing hanging in her closet? I thought it was the new tablecloth" I spat. "Do Not be rude Briar, your sister is just excited. Isn't that right Aris?" mother chimed in. "Mother, it's a pastel mess. If she wears it, I won't talk to her. It's simply the way I am" I honestly cannot stand anything bright.

With that discussion in mind, I hurried to my room. I don't even know how they forgot. How do parents forget the birth of their own child? I feel miserable.

Don't feel

I've had this voice in my head for months now. Since summer started. I usually write to make myself feel better, but it hasn't worked as of recent. I guess it couldn't hurt to try again. I took out my quill and parchment and began.

Dear Whoever, This May Find,

I'm sick of my feelings and emotions being overridden by what my sister wants. I am constantly forgotten and tossed to the side. I'm a wreck. I used to be Mom and Dad's pride and joy. Now I don't know what I am. Have I outgrown them? Am I supposed to be working harder? Should I study more?

What do I need to change to get my position back in their hearts? If there is anyone who can answer my thoughts, please do write back. Use my personal owl, Bob. He's a little pretentious and food motivated. Take that as you will.

With love,

Princess Briar Gnight <3
