The White Party

Author's Note: Hey everybody! In this one-shot a couple things are switched around. The most important being 1. Lucious and Andre already had their fight when he basically tells Andre it doesn't matter how many white women he marries the race will never except him and that he essentially isn't gonna give him the company since he doesn't trust him not to tear the family apart. In my story they had this fight a couple weeks before. Andre spoke about it with Rhonda, she comforted him. Which helped Dre not ever get to the point where he tried to kill himself in that scene during Season 1. But he hadn't confronted Lucious head on about all the years of mistreatment yet. And 2. The start of that fight Andre and Lucious had was not about Jamal's coming out, but it got started in a conversation about the IPO. Lucious said something slick, Dre snapped back and it blew up. Narrator's POV:
Rhonda knew her hubby wasn't in the best spirits when they came to the white party. Since he felt things were not turning in his favor for becoming CEO of Empire. Even after everything that they tried. But Rhonda was nowhere near ready to give up at all. She knew that Dre deserved to run Empire more than anybody else, including Jamal and Hakeem.

He was the most qualified to successfully run that company due to his highly skilled ivy-league education in business. But of course Lucious with all his ignorance doesn't even wanna give Dre a chance all because he isn't a musical artist. A lot of people don't know, but Andre actually can sing. He is able to rap as well. But for the most part he did it as a kid every once in a blue moon for fun. It was never his passion though. Business, numbers, deals, etc is his lane. That has always been his world.

And at the end of the day no matter how much he wanted the company he busted his ass off for years for. Andre Martin Lyon wouldn't change who he was for anybody. Even if that was the big bad wolf Lucious himself. So taking everything that has happened the past few weeks into consideration Rhonda understood why Andre was in such a bad mood. Snappy and irritable with her at every turn. She was the only one who made Dre feel 100% safe. So she was the one he always felt most comfortable showing his not so nice side too.

Of course she knew his bipolar played a role as well. But overall she could tell, Dre was just tired and frustrated. Of getting crumbs and having to fight & claw in attempt to get what was rightfully his. So she isn't taking his attittude tonight with her to heart. Because she knows he needs her, more than anyone to keep pushing. She knows he doesn't mean his harsh words & actions. And most importantly without a shadow of a doubt she knows he loves her.

So Rhonda does what she's always done in their relationship. She stands by him. Remains by his side as the steady prescence he needs. Even in the midst of him allowing his father's stupidity to make him neglect his health by mixing his bipolar meds with alcohol. Even when he tries to push her away since he currently feels like a worthless burden to her.
