Bertholdt laid on the roof of a building, near the wall by Wall Maria and Shiganshina District. Eren stared at Armin, who had burns, but was still in a good enough condition to survive without eating him. A titan would land on a nearby roof with a blonde haired man in it.
"You look nothing like your father."
"If you get any closer I will slice his throat!"
"I'll come back to safe you from this hell one day, Eren. This is the end for you, Bertholdt."
The titan jumped away, as Captain Levi fell from the wall onto the roof.
"Give me your gas! I need to kill him!"
"Yes Captain!" Armin fumbled to get his gas off.
Suddenly, Commander Erwin Smith on Recruit Floch's back arrived. Floch would shout, "Captain! The commander is in critical condition! Give him that syringe thing!"
The captain would open his eyes up, and reach in his jacket. He pulled out a black case, and opened it up. Levi would put fluid into the syringe, and walked towards Erwin. He put the syringe to the commanders arm. The others, including Hange, Jean, Connie, Sasha, and Mikasa would hook onto another building with ODM. Levi was about to inject Erwin when the commander shot his arm up.
"How.... are we to be sure... there aren't other humans.. outside the walls..?" The commander muttered out. Levi looked shocked, and turned to Bertholdt, who opened his eyes and attempted to mutter out a sentence.
"I know.... everything outside the... walls... I killed innocents for... nothing... so please..." He began to shed tears. "Let me fix what I did!" Bertholdt cried out. Levi stared at Bertholdt.
"Everyone else doesn't have fatal wounds... but Erwin. How would I to be sure that your not lying!" Levi walked towards Bertholdt.
Eren stared as him and the others saw Bertholdt talking to Levi. Eren hooked to the roof Levi was on and went towards them.
"You saw it, right Eren!" Bertholdt cried out at Eren. "They left me for dead! They didn't try to save me! Let me live!" He cried.
"Eren, he has information about outside the walls. If we let him live, we risk him escaping, but he could help us. It's your choice, we will lock him up until he talks, then we will free him and let him rejoin the Scouts." Eren looked at Bertholdt, then the captain. Eren began to bite his lip, tears coming from his eyes.
"I only went on this mission.. so my father wouldn't die... no matter what I'll do he will still die!" Bertholdt tried to reason with Eren.
"Let him live.. Captain." Eren shed a tear. "He said he was just a kid.. He got brainwashed by whoever did this!" Eren put his hand out at Levi. Levi would pick up Bertholdt and strap him to his back with Bertholdts ODM straps. He went up the wall. The others soon followed.
Authors Note
Everything after this is the same, without Bertholdt being eaten. They visit the basement, return home, and serve some time in jail. Bertholdt would be in jail also, however for a longer time, and without going to the ceremony. We will continue during the Paradis attack on Marley.
