The Librarian?!

Jean sat down on the comfortable chair by her desk full of papers. Before she could start a debate with herself, she lifted her head and decided to get on with working to make up for her break. Her pen sat next to her recently bought mirror. When she looked at herself, she could see how red she was.

"I... Lisa!" She said, grumbling under her breath. She wasn't quite irritated; the unusual feeling was one of a kind. The image of the beautiful woman began repeating itself in Jean's head, making the hungry desire for her lips on hers again stronger, she wanted more. She needed more.

The sudden sound of a door opening snapped her thoughts back in place. Turning the mirror away, she also grabbed ahold of her pen. She let out a deep sigh, and started working. Hopelessly, she glanced up at the clock every once in a while, trying to see when she needed her coffee; even though it was nowhere near time. The sound of gentle pen strokes against paper and the faint clicks from the clock hands filled her head. She stared at her writing, ever so slightly trailing her eyes down the pages when she grew nearer to the end of the sheets.

"17:23..." "18:54..." "20:42..." "23:12..." "00:01."

Jean slammed her hands against the desk, the intense mixture of her emotions were clogging her brain. She felt her eyes well up, the pain of trying to hold tears back pinched at her face.

"Why can't I be like you, all I want to do is please Mondstadt..." She whispered, her voice cracking between words. Her sight began to tunnel, random colours intruding her vision. She pushed the papers away and rested her head on the dark, wood desk in front of her. As tears streamed down her face, she gently shut her eyes and relaxed herself. Before she knew it, her consciousness faded.

...

Jean gradually woke up to light tapping on her shoulder. Half-asleep, she forgot about what happened last night and turned her head the other way; however, the tapping only became faster and faster.

"Who... Who is it?" She murmured with an irritated tone. The voice of the person responding was inaudible, as her hearing hadn't "woken up" either. She finally lifted her head, expecting to see someone standing up beside her, however, it was a short person. She squinted to try and see who it was.

"Klee! What are you doing!" Jean practically yelled. Before Klee could respond, a knight entered her office and lifted her up. Walking out the door, they spoke, "Sorry Acting Grand Master, but this little one has been planting bombs in pathways again. A report came in earlier this morning." Klee squirmed, but all Jean could do was nod to the knight as they both exited to Klee's room.

Jean let out a sigh after the door to her office had shut. Her mind was empty, no thoughts processing or anything. Papers were scattered around her desk in neat piles. She thought to herself, "Thankfully I didn't mess anything up." She blinked hard, trying to wake up faster and regain flow of her thoughts. Instead of immediately writing for hours on a hundred sheets again, she stood up and began to walk into the main hall. Closing the door, she took a glimpse of the library door. She walked over, nodding at the knight beside the doorway before she entered. Looking at the shelves on the left, her eyes widened and became confused.

"Amber?" Jean spoke. The short, brown-haired girl replied with a smile and beckoned her over. She replied, "Hey Jean! What'cha up to?"

Jean was still confused, but she was up for a conversation. "Just work, thank you. Anything new I need to take care of?" She was willing to take in any work, giving little mind that she was extremely tired and overworked. Amber gave her a light giggle, "No Jean," she began, but gave the blonde a concerned look, "hey, you look really tired, is everything alright?"

Jean remembered that she didn't bother to take a look at herself. She felt her hair to make sure nothing was sticking up, and she was glad to feel her hair in its usual state. She replied, "Yes, why? I apologize if I'm not in proper manner, I just... forgot my coffee. Actually I could go for some-"

"Jean..." Amber gave an empathetic tone in her voice, looking up at Jean. "I'm going to get Lisa- please, stay here." She began to trot out of the room, but Jean swiftly grabbed ahold of her shoulder. "Wait- no- I'll be okay! I'm just..." Jean said rapidly. Amber shot her a confused look.

"Uh... Is everything okay? Did Lisa do anything to you? I swear..." Amber started, Jean shaking her head and trying to interrupt politely to tell her nothing was wrong, but the woman kept speaking. "What did she do? Are you tired because of her? What she do to make you so tired? I'm going to call her-"

"Its a strange feeling!" Jean slightly shouted, finally interrupting. Amber immediately gave her a sly look. However, she hadn't fully processed what Jean said.

"Wait..." She stared into open space, registering what the tall woman said, "Lisa?! The librarian!?" She practically yelled out. Jean hushed her, hearing the door to the library open. A concerned feeling grew, her heart sank to her stomach waiting to see who it was.

A child walked in. Ella Musk! She had a coffee in her hands and skipped over to the two women. "Here Acting Grand Master! I heard you needed coffee before I entered the library, so I talked to Sara at Good Hunter if I could get some." The child set the coffee in Jean's hands, and walked down to the stairs where she could find the Hilichurl books.

"You didn't have to, but thank you!" Jean spoke, smiling at the little girl. When she looked over, Amber was still in shock. Jean slapped her hand onto her face, knowing that she had said too much. She dragged the brown-haired woman out of the library and the building whole, pushing her out the doors and shutting it behind her. Jean rubbed her forehead and marched back into her office...
