"I'll have to let you go Jisoo," I say while hanging up the call. While putting in my earbuds, I turn on loud music to drown out the noise.

I'm stuck in a tight crowd of people, each one trying to inch closer to the road so they can see the cars race by.

I sigh, trying to push through people so I could get home.

There were a lot of downsides to living in this area, but the street racing was by far my least favorite part. Obnoxious crowds and even more obnoxious drivers with their cars, racing whenever they pleased.

It's worse when I have a late shift at work. Usually, the races start once I was already home. But when I had a late shift I was forced to navigate through the crowd, trying to not get trampled, and deal with people who had drunk way too much that night. Not to mention the racers, who almost always seemed like they thought they were better than everyone else.

But me and Jisoo don't have the money to move somewhere else, so we were stuck here.

I check my phone and see the time is just past 1:30 am. Looking up, I also see a small shop that was close to my apartment.

"I should be close to my apartment now."

Once I cross the street, the crowd would slow down, and I should be able to walk home easily.

I start to push my way through a denser crowd of people who are standing around the corner, waiting to get a glimpse of the racers.

A collection of people cuss me out when I force myself in front of them. I ignore them, knowing that if I talk back it'll end up causing more problems.

Once I'm up to the crosswalk, I check to see if the racers were coming yet. But I don't see any cars and I can only hear them faintly. I know it's risky to cross before the cars pass by, but I'm too tired and too annoyed to think of that.

As I start to step into the road, someone grabs onto my shoulder and aggressively pulls me back.

I look up at the man. He was tall with dark brown hair, and he was wearing a black and white leather jacket with red shoulders.

"Are you trying to die?" He yells at me.

I pull out my earbuds and go to respond, but as I'm about to, five different cars fly through the road where I would've been walking.

"Ugh, dumbass," He says, bringing me out of my dumbfounded staring at the road. Finally, the man lets go of my shoulder and roll his eyes at me. "Don't try to cross the road again until all the cars pass by." He says before walking away.

I watch him as he walks away, and it seems like the crowd made way for him, so he could easily walk wherever he wants.

"I'm home Jisoo!" I call into the apartment while hanging up my bag.

At this point, the only thing I want to do is take a warm shower and fall into a deep sleep. But I haven't eaten yet, and if Jisoo finds out, she might murder me.

"How did getting home go?" I hear Jisoo yell to me from the living room, where she was probably studying for her next test. "Oh, and dinner is in the fridge!" She adds.

Walking through the living room to get to the kitchen, I see Jisoo typing at her laptop while playing a cheesy drama on the tv. Jisoo looks up at me from her laptop and gives me a concerned look, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," I sigh, "Work was boring without you and Changkyun. Then I almost got run over while walking home."

"What! Explain!" She says, jumping up from the couch and following me into the kitchen.
