"Doc, uuwi kana?"
Sometimes, I regret being a doctor because I knew from the very start that I couldn't save them the way I wanted them to be saved. I do operate, but after that, I couldn't control what would happen next. I just need to monitor them from time to time to be sure that the operation is successful. After all, all I need to do is pray and hope that nothing complications will happen.
Suddenly, my mind filled my dad's face. He was smiling at me, probably telling me that I did well. Every time I fell down in this field, my dad always reminded me that I made a good choice in choosing this path.
I open my eyes when I heard a constantly knock on my door. I sigh before standing up. I opened the door and saw Sheena looking flustered and panicking. I hold her hands and squeezed it gently to make her calm.
"Why? What happen?" I gently asked.
She bit her lower lip. "Doc, may nagwawala pong tatay roon sa labas at hinahanap po kayo."
Since I started being a doctor this happen anytime.
He was the father of a girl who ended her life. He was also the reason why the child was admitted to the hospital.
He shouted at me, angrily.
"I'm sorry, but you have to leave."
Mas lalo siyang nagalit, namumula na ang pisnge at tenga. "Tangina ka! Hinding hindi kita mapapatawad na hayop ka! Lahat kayo!
I just nodded at her, and she left. I look at the guy and talk to him more calmly now.
"You're causing so much trouble, Sir. You need to leave." I looked at him and saw he's eyes, looking angrier now. "If you don't leave now, I have no choice but to call the police."
He laughed sarcastically.
It so hard to understand his anger gosh. If I could only have punched him to make him quiet, I would have done it. But of course, it's forbidden, because besides being a doctor, I don't want to be in jail.
. ." I saw him shocked, but care was the last thing on my mind.
I knew his story to his family. His wife was already ready to file a case for him. He was abusive father not only to her child but also to her wife.
Fuck him! I would never tolerate that kind of attitude.
I whispered and looked at him.
I hit the line. Again.
I stepped back and look at him calmer now.
"Are you okay?" His voice was firm.
Huh?
I looked at him.
His face was so familiar.
His voice was so familiar.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked gently now.
He asked gently to me like I never hurt his feelings.
He asked gently like I never hurt his family.
He asked gently like I never leave him.
