Home... What is a home? Is it the environment you're raised in? Or is it a place your dragged into by fate. Me? I lost my "home" in a fire where I don't fully understand the how, of the event. Not to say that is the only question on my mind. There are others such as did my parents somehow know this would happen? If so why did my parents keep this from me? Why is almost everyone missing? I've just got done putting out most of the flames.... What truly happened here? Was it a fire gone out of control, or an attack?
I was on my way back to the kingdom from a meeting with a township not that far when the fires had spread..... Their probably gone now.... It matters now, now as here in front of me now is all that is left of my history. Memories, people even; few in number scorched head to toe. One last question seeds its way into my head. Who am I? No more am I Prince Alex Leaf of the Kingdom of Meadle. I've got nothing to show for myself, I could rebuild but why try?
...No, I may no longer be a Prince of anything, but I mustn't lose focus. I need to evaluate future plans... I will be in need of food, and water first; then shelter there are not that many dangers here now that the fire is out. Shelter can come later, cause I'd rather not sleep in a dead mans "home".
Luckily there beyond the... "Newly" deforest plains is a town on a river if my memory serves me correctly. So I grabbed a large piece of cloth, and wore it as a hood. I will head back in that direction see if what I believe holds true. I've never hunted, nor gathered, so having a difficult time in all future scenarios will most likely hold true. However we will see when I get there I might be a natural heh...
On my way to the river I met a strangely kind farmer.
"Hey kid what you up to? It's almost night. It's probably best for you to just go home. It's not exactly safe out when the sun falls."
I was taken aback by what he said "not exactly safe" how? Keefil doesn't have that many animals, and the ones we have are not hostile in any way; ignoring that for now I reply
"How far is it to the great river people?" The farmer looked at me with confusion at first, his face slowly turning into a look of interest.
"About 15 hours. You would be more likely to Inherit some small nation's title, compared to being capable of making that trip all in one piece."
I don't quite like what he said about the whole Inheritance thing, however he would not have known that I was once a prince; so letting it go might be best.
"Would it be too much if I where to ask for a place to stay till morning then?" The farmer agreed to let me sleep in a pen.
Strange isn't it? Just yesterday I had at least a bed to sleep on. Today though? Dirt, ONLY dirt.
I slept terribly
