It was a sunny day, and as usual, Clover would be sitting on his little tree, where he'd play his guitar, and sing to the animals. As Clover was singing, he noticed someone was staring at him. It was the one and only, Licorice Cookie, staring at him with a weird face. "Oh, why hello there" Clover said with that calm voice of his. "Have you come here to see my performance?". Licorice glared. "Wha? Me? Why would I wanna see some... some weirdo who sings to the animals!? That's just dumb" he said. Clover was a bit caught off guard, but he shrugged it off. "It's alright, you don't have to listen if you don't want to" he kindly smiled. Licorice didn't say anything, only turned away.
As he was walking away, he could hear the faint music coming from Clover's guitar. He thought the music was quite nice, but he couldn't go back, even if he wanted to, which he did. I mean, what villain wants to be caught listening to a nice guy's music, especially someone who sings to the animals?
Later on, Licorice returned to his home land, and wanted to write about what happened earlier in his diary, but before he could, Red Velvet ran up to him. "There you are! You're in charge of walking Chiffon!" he said. "What!? Again!? Right now!?" Licorice whined.
"Yes, right now, now go on"
"Why can't YOU walk him!? YOU'RE the one who loves your cake dogs!"
"Because I was assigned to do something, now go on, it's your turn today"Licorice wanted to complain more, but there was no getting out of doing his chore. He angrily took the leash, and went outside. As Licorice walked, he grumbled under his breath, talking some bad things about Red Velvet and a bit about his doggy friend. Just then, Chiffon seemed to spot something, or should I say, someONE. He started barking, and it concerned Licorice. "Ugh, what is it, boy?" he asked the little cake monster, tiredly. Before he could even blink, Chiffon started running towards the person, and swept him off his feet.
"CHIFFON! NO! B-B-BAD BOY!!" Licorice shouted, trying to get him to stop. "SIT! HEEL! STAY! OH GOD!" As they got closer and closer to the thing that Chiffon was chasing after, he saw that it was Clover from earlier. He had just finished his performance and was walking by himself. "Watch out!" Licorice forced his feet onto the ground to try and stop himself. Clover looked over at the poor, grim cookie, with a rapid cake dog.
"Oh dear" said Clover, quietly. He backed up to try and avoid the aggressive cake dog. Finally, Licorice was half buried in the ground afterwards, but the good thing was, he stopped Chiffon. Clover looked at the barking dog, then at Licorice, who had dirt in his face. "Oh my, are you alright?" Clover laughed a little bit. "H-Hey! Don't laugh! I-It's not funny!" Licorice snapped. "My apologies, lucky that you're okay though" Clover said. He went to try and help Licorice, but Chiffon barked at him. Clover jumped back. "Goodness! Is that yours?" Clover asked. "Yep... it's my turn to walk him today..." Licorice sighed.
"He looks a bit mad. Maybe a song will calm him down"
"Pfft, you can try, cake monsters aren't easy to tame, you know"
"Well, I'll try anyways"
"Alright, whatever..."Clover took out his guitar and started playing a tune. Before Licorice knew it, Chiffon was asleep! Licorice's eyes widened, he was generally surprised. "But... how!?" Licorice exclaimed. "Good luck, I guess" Clover's warm smile made Licorice flush a little. Clover helped Licorice out the dirt. Licorice looked down, feeling kinda ashamed. "I... thanks, I guess. You really do have a way with animals" he said. "Aw, it's nothing really" Clover chuckled. Licorice looked down at the sleeping dog, then looked at Clover. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't make out the words, so it just sounded like gibberish.
"Oh, are you alright?" Clover asked, studying his face. "I-I... I want... I-I want you to..." Licorice tried to say it. "You want me to what?" Clover asked, studying his face even more. "I... I WANT YOU TO SING ANOTHER SONG!!" he finally spit it out, and then turned red out of embarrassment. He felt less like the tough bad guy he was, or seemed to be. "Really? I thought you didn't like my music. Didn't you say that I was just an animal-talking weirdo?" he asked. "Forget what I said! I wanna hear a song..." Licorice demanded. Clover was confused on why he changed his mind, and he was also confused on why a villain would wanna hear his tunes, but without another question, he patted Licorice's head and sat on a rock.
As he started playing, Licorice felt like he wanted to fall asleep, like Chiffon did. He sat down and quietly listened. Clover's voice was like an angel and his tunes were beautiful. When Clover finished, Licorice was speechless. He hadn't heard anything better, besides Dark Enchantress cookie's voice. "Well? Did you like it?" Clover asked the calmed cookie. Licorice wanted to say what he felt about his song, but trying to be the tough guy, he said "it was... ok". He turned red, embarrassed again. "Oh, well... I guess that's better than nothing" Clover smiled. "I uh... gotta go" Licorice sat up quickly. "Oh? So soon? Oh, well it was nice spending some time with you" Clover said, carefully picking up the sleeping dog and putting it gently in Licorice's hands. "You know, you're not as bad as people say you were" Clover said. Licorice turned red. "Thanks, now I... gotta go now, bye now..." the flustered Licorice ran off into the distance.
That night, Licorice thought about Clover, his music and his voice. Why am I thinking so much about him? Licorice thought. He's just a weirdo. At least, that's what he wanted to make himself think. That was the night he found himself dreaming about Clover.
The next morning, Licorice went out to find Clover again. He found him playing on his tree, performing to the animals again. He missed the show though, because Clover had finished. Licorice looked over to him and whistled to get his attention. "Oh Licorice, you've come back! No cake monster this time?" Clover ran up to him. "Nope, err, not today" he said. "I've come to see you again" The two of them sat on the tree together. Clover sang songs and told him stories. They would do this every day, every week, every month.
Until one day, Clover was getting into telling life stories. "Everyone has a story to tell. What's your story, Licorice?" He asked. "Oh, uh, I dunno if I really have one..." Licorice flushed. "Nonsense! C'mon, you can tell me" Clover smiled. Clover's warm smile convinced him to tell him a little story about himself. "Oh, alright" Licorice said and then thought. "Well... when I was younger, I always wished to become a wizard, but, I've never got to fulfilled my dream, and no one really gave me recognition, so I turned to the dark arts, and wallah! I, Licorice Cookie, work for Dark Enchantress now!"
Clover stared at him in silence. Licorice blushed. "Uh, that was a pretty dumb story, wasn't it?"
"No, no! It wasn't dumb, I... I'm just..."
"You... just what?"
"I'm just... sorry that happened to you when you were a kid"
"Eh, it's not a big deal, I—"Before he could say anything else, Clover kissed him on the cheek. Licorice was speechless. "Of course, it's a big deal, you didn't deserve that" Clover calmly said. Licorice was all red. Clover then realized what he did. He was also turning a bit red. "O-Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that..." he said, embarrassed. "You're lucky I liked it" Licorice mumbled, holding the kissed cheek. Clover leaned closer to Licorice. "We... really shouldn't stop hanging out like this, don't you think?" Clover asked. Licorice thought about it, then said "you know what? Yeah, we really shouldn't stop".
