Are we there yet? Nyssa never said the words aloud, she assumed they'd be consumed by the ruckus of crashing waves. They were often at odds. The waves and her voice. They seemed to be in a constant argument of whose voice needed to be heard.

Fuck you. Nyssa cursed the sea. Silently, of course, she didn't expect it to answer back.

"Do you plan on fishing?" Jack approached her from behind. He often kept to himself. But it seemed like even the lone wolf was capable of feeling loneliness at sea.

"No, why?" Nyssa asked.

"Oh, I just figured." Jack gazed at the green seawater. "You've been staring at the ocean for ages now. I thought you were considering taking a dip."

A dip would be nice. She thought looking at the sun. Nyssa fanned her face and pulled at her collar allowing her skin to breathe.

Nyssa hated the summer heat. The air was sticky and humid, and the sun was brutal and unforgiving.

Nyssa jumped on the railing. I'll go for a swim. She decided. Then Jack stopped her. "What are you doing?"

"I don't think that's a good idea," Jack advised. "We're near Fumiko territory. Transforming now could cause a commotion."

"I never said I was going to transform." Nyssa snatched her arm back. She fed Jack a harsh glare. He backed off, she had eyes of poison, just like her father.

Red eyes of dread. Jack thought. Nyssa's eyes didn't carry warmth like Ren's did or Maija's. The only warmth they carried came from the blood of their enemies.

"Fine. Do as you wish." Said Jack.

Nyssa smiled and took that as an open invitation. She dove into the sea and drifted into an expansive pit of liquid nothingness. She felt at home in the ocean. Like it was her natural habitat.

You're so close. Nyssa heard Itsuki's voice. She knew he wasn't there. At least she hoped he wasn't. Pain and suffering followed Itsuki wherever he went, and she wasn't interested in introducing any more negativity into her life.

I've suffered enough. I won't let you control me like how Michael did, so fuck off. Nyssa flipped off the bottomless pit that was the ocean. She imagined blood-red eyes glaring back at her. The sheer imaginative sight frightened her even if she didn't show it.

Itsuki is powerful. She didn't need to physically meet him to know that. Nyssa felt it. She saw it. She knew it. If he wanted to Itsuki could control her entire life at the drop of a hat. Yet, he's waited for ages to make his move. Why?

Nyssa didn't have an answer. Truthfully, she didn't know. That's what scared her the most. Itsuki had a plan for her and she didn't have the slightest clue where it began.

You're very close yet still so far. You possess Erica's stubbornness and her naivety. If you truly believe I don't own you then you're very much mistaken. The weak don't get to choose how they live or how they die. The strong decide that. Until you understand that much you'll always be at my mercy.

A massive black hand reached from the dark trenches and grabbed her whole. Nyssa gasped under the force of the hand. She stopped breathing. Water filled her lungs. It hurt. It felt like her chest was about to burst.
