Chapter 1: The Capsule

A single teardrop fell from her face as she stepped into the capsule, unable to look back on what she had left behind. She closed the door behind her and turned around to face the one-way glass (her family could see her but she couldn't see them).

She gave a little wave and a half-hearted smile, the tears now freely flowing from her eyes, but she couldn't help her lingering thoughts from reminding her of her loved ones, and what she could possibly be facing in the future. You see, that was exactly where she would be going... the future.

The scientists had told her what to expect and what she should do in order to ensure this experiment went well.

The only reason she was doing this was because of her family, they needed the money that this would bring them, and even though they would never be able to see her again, they knew that she would still live a normal life in the future.

She would be the first person to try out this machine which froze a person until a certain year in which you wanted to go to.

How it was supposed to work is, she put your hand on a very sensitive motion detector, it passes a light electric current through your body, making sure that all the main organs still work but you don't actually need to use them (like they said that your heart only beats once every 72 hours).

You won't blink until you wake and since your brain won't need to function as much you will not die from oxygen starvation of the brain as you still breath once every 12 hours.

They also said that it would take a few minutes for her body to slowly shut down and that she would feel a slight pain in her head as they slowly tell the brain to shut down the internal organs but still keep them slightly alive.

It's a tough job for the brain and she may not survive, but her family needed her to do this - this is what she would do for her family.

She waited for the drowsiness to take over from the medicine she was given before going into the capsule.

If this precaution was not taken the pain in her head from the pressure of the temperamental electric currents would make her eardrums would burst. Also she would bleed to death due to the doorway being sealed shut from the inside and out once someone is inside so no-one would be able to go in and treat her wounds.

She was thinking of how her family would cope without her, if they coul-

Her thoughts were cut short by a sharp pain in her head - when they said it would hurt she didn't think it would be this much - she abruptly put her hands to her temple, trying get rid of the high-pitched squeal sounding off in her head.

Not only was her head pounding, but since she took her hands off of the motion detector the sound of the alarm was bouncing off every wall and straight to her.

It said 'prepare for emergency lock-down and freeze, this is not a drill, the process must be finished. Prepare for emergency. . .' this can only mean one thing. She had to find a way out before she was frozen to death, but there was none.

She had to think of something quickly! Then the thought struck her, she could just put her hands back on the sensor - it was simple! But when she put her hands back on it, an electric current went through her, so strong that her knees buckled and she fell to the ground.

On the way down she hit her head off the back of the railing at the edge of the capsule and she heard a sickening crack.

She put a hand to the back of her head and brought it back around for her to see: her hand was covered in blood. She let out a blood-curdling scream right before the red dots blocked her vision and she eventually lost consciousness...
