A Normal Life

Chapter 4

"Well the building was bombed but, his body was found in what we think to be as the Men's Restroom" Mr.Leo says after getting off the phone. I look around and notice Drake was gone. Guess he was sad and didn't want to cry in front of us and Nikki's Uncle Leo. Mr.Leo phone rings. He picks up. "Hello Sheriff Leo here." he says into the phone. He goes quite puts down the phone and starts to tear up. "ABBIE!" him yells crying. Nikki turns and looks toward him with a startled look. We wait a few minutes. Finally I can't stand it anymore and pipe up "What happened." By then I see Nikki crying like she knows what it means. Choking up he managed to say "Y'all moms, dads, siblings are dead, my sister, my brother in law, your families." The girls cry and weep. I cry a thunderstorm. After ten minutes or so, we all pile up into Mr.Leo's car. He takes to our treehouse and says he will come and check on us every now and then. He hands each of us a fifty dollar bill and said our parents don't have will so, all their money will be put in the bank for us and everything else will be sold. CREAK We enter finding Drake already inside but, none of us question him. He is very private so, if we did ask him he probably wouldn't tell us I reckon. I asked the girl what time it was. They all looked at their watch then said in unison 9:15. We eat some left overs from breakfast and go up to our room. I doze off to the sound of the girl singing. Probably a song sung at a funeral I think to myself before I close my eye. I wake up screaming
