A/N: As an anxiety sufferer, seeing imagines about Bucky comforting the reader is comforting to me, so I'd thought I'd pass on the love :)

Enjoy!

***********************************************

You had been on edge all day.

You couldn't quite place what got you so anxious to begin with. You just knew that you were, and that you needed help; you needed someone to pull you out of the hole you were slowly tumbling into.

It only came to a head when Tony Stark, your mentor and friend, started berating you for something you didn't even do

You hate how sensitive you are. You cry way too easily, especially when someone starts yelling at you. You can't help it, not really, but it's still embarrassing all the same.

You rush off to your room, your breaths coming in shorter and shorter as time progresses, even more tears coming to your eyes and making them burn.

Needless to say, you're a hot mess, and you're about to explode.

Your heartbeat quickens when you hear a soft knock at the door. "Y/N? You okay? Sam said you looked upset when you were coming out of the lab."

You wipe your tears away quickly and sniffle. "I'm okay. Just need to be alone for a little while."

You hear a soft thump. "I'm not leaving until you let me in. I can tell when you're not okay, and I know right now is one of those times."

Against your instincts, you push yourself off your bed and open the door, seeing Bucky sitting against the wall right next to it. He looks up at you and scrambles to his feet, studying your face intensely. "You're been crying, haven't you?"

You nod, hugging yourself, running your hands over your arms, making goosebumps appear on them. "Is it that obvious?"

He gives you a sad smile. "What happened, doll?"

You pull him into your room and sit him down on the bed beside you. "I was working on a project for Fitz when Tony came in and started yelling at me for doing something I didn't even do. I think one of his interns did it, but I don't know for sure." You sniffle again, running your fingers over the soft material of your blanket. "Anyways, he kept coming at me and more and more people started walking in and staring and..." You wipe away your fresh tears. "You know how I get when someone starts yelling at me. I panicked and ran out of there. Pretty sure he's still looking for me to berate me even more."

Bucky shakes his head, rubbing your back as soothingly as he can. "I'll deal with him. No one yells at my girl and gets away with it."

You smile amidst your tears and give him a grateful look. "I'm glad I have you for times like these. Ugh, I hate that I even get like this, though. It's embarrassing."

He shrugs. "Everyone processes those things differently. It's better than bottling it up. Take it from someone who does that. It's not pretty."

"You know you have me for whenever you have bad days, right?" you ask, desperately hoping that he answers in the affirmative.

Bucky smiles, brushing his knuckle over your cheek. "Of course I know that. That's what makes our relationship work, doll." He gives you a kiss. "I love you."

You hum and brush your nose against his. "Love you too."

There's loud knocking at your door then, interrupting your soft moment with your boyfriend. "Y/N, I have a bone to pick with you!" exclaims a still-angry Tony Stark from the other side of said door.

"Don't you think you've harped on her enough, Stark?" Bucky asks, and you can tell that Tony's shocked at these words, or maybe by the fact that his "sworn enemy" is in your room with you with the door closed.

"This is none of your business, Barnes."

"It is my business when you make my girl cry and nearly have a panic attack." You have to admit to yourself, you didn't know that he knew that. He continues. "If you're not here to apologize to her, then I'd suggest you just leave."

"You know, I can easily just kick you out on the street, right?" Tony asks, and you roll your eyes at the question.

"That was cheap, and you know it." Bucky looks at you, curled up into a ball on your bed, tears welling in your eyes before speaking up again. "She told me it wasn't her who did...whatever you said she did. She was working on something for Fitz."

Tony scoffs. "That kid has no jurisdiction here-"

"Doesn't matter. It doesn't take away from the fact that you accused her of something and didn't even give her the chance to explain herself before you started yelling at her. I'm looking at her right now and she's terrified that you're just going to do the same thing you did down in the lab, and I'm not about to stand idly by while she's like that." You look at Bucky, who gives you a slight smile. "I love her too much to let that happen."

"I didn't know you had the capacity to love, Cyborg. I'm surprised."

Bucky rolls his eyes. "This isn't about me.  This is about Y/N, and the fact that you should be apologizing to her rather than making snide remarks about my love life." He looks at you again and gives you a wider smile this time.

"Alright, fine. Y/N, I'm sorry for yelling at you for something that you totally did, no matter how many times you try to deny it."

Bucky bangs his head against the door. "That's not a real apology, Stark, and you know it. How about contacting Fitz, because I know for a fact my girl ain't lyin'."

His Brooklyn drawl comes and goes, and it's actually quite endearing to you.

Your boss groans. "Fine. I'll be back."

You hear his footsteps retreat and Bucky sighs. "That was a lot harder than it should've been, and I thought Steve was stubborn."

You chuckle. "Don't tell Steve you said that, though. You'll never hear the end of it."

He smirks and nods. "That's true."

You then get a text from Fitz.

LF: Hello there! Finished that project yet?

Y/N: Not yet. I got rudely interrupted by a gripey Tony Stark who thought I messed up something of his and he didn't believe me when I told him I was working on something for him. He's going to call or text you about that, by the way. Just a warning.

LF: Noted. I'm in no rush, by the way. Just go at your own pace.

Y/N: Thanks, Leo. You're the best.

LF: Don't tell Jemma you called me that, but you're welcome.

You giggle and lock your phone again.

Bucky hooks his metal arm around your shoulders and drops a kiss into your hair. "You seem like you're feeling better."

You intertwine your fingers with his that are draped over your shoulder. "I have you and Fitz to thank for that."

You show him the texts you just exchanged with your other friend and he chuckles. "That kid is somethin' else, huh?"

"I'll say. He might only be putting up with me because I'm Jemma's awkward American cousin, but no matter." You shrug and look up at your boyfriend. "I'm still grateful for both my boys."

He hums and leans down to kiss you. "I'm sure I speak for him when I say that the feeling is mutual, babydoll."

You hear another knock at your door about ten minutes later. "I take everything back, Y/N. The kid backed you up. Sorry 'bout that!" Tony exclaims through the closed door.

You giggle. "Thanks, Tony!"

"Anytime, kiddo."
