I am in Charge

I was let's say more then a little tipsy after the rest of the ceremony last night. My anger flowed through me and I had a look in my eyes that said I would kill. But, he was already dead so there was nothing else I could do, nothing else but drown myself in a bottle of wine over and over again.

Ash finally pulled cut me off a little before 1 which still led to me being very hungover this morning.

I groan as I rollover to face Ash " Well good morning to you too," He says

" Ugh shut up," I reply playfully.

" You were wasted last night," He chuckles

" You think," I say sitting up rubbing my forehead to try and get rid of the throbbing.

" Any plans today?" I ask hoping he says no.

" I'm leaving for a business trip today actually," He says, trying to hide his nerves. But I realize his anxiousness by the thoughtful look on his face.

" Don't leave me," I whisper looking into his deep eyes.

" Lex, I have to make this arrangement. Without it we are going to be in some really deep shit." He explains to me grabbing my hands and exhales. " Plus I'll only be gone for two days."

" You know that's not what I mean," I breathe.

He tenses then takes my hands into his. " Don't worry about me. If you need anything, call me or let Dustin know. He'll protect you while I'm away."

" You know I don't need protection," I retorted, standing up for myself but in a joking manner.

" Oh trust me I know," He chuckles, grabbing my face to give me a kiss on the forehead before I watch him walk out the door.

Ash had left, leaving me with a whole lot of boredom. I decided to head down to the training center to get a workout before dinner when I overheard Kol in his office. Yes, sadly this jackass is still here. "... Brat... Stupid... Busy... Ivy..." Are the jumbled up words I hear Kol spilling to his what I'm assuming to be a coworker. Therefore, a threat.

My heart feels like it has left my chest. Kol is a corrupt monster with morals no one can fix. So if he is talking about my sister I know it can't be for her well being. I rush back towards my room slamming the door behind me debating what I should do with information that is swirling around in my mind.

I am on the edge of having a full breakdown when my doorknob suddenly turns without a knock. I rush to my feet breathing slowly to hold back the tears threatening to pool over.

" Hey Lexi," Dustin greets happily.

" Dustin, hey" I breathed a sigh of relief.

" So Ash told me to watch over you while he's on business."

" I don't need a babysitter," I scoff with a slight hint of anger, unable to believe that Ash is treating me like some little girl that needs to be protected.

" Trust me, I know." He assures me, " But, orders are orders."

" So movie night?" He smiles with too much hope in his eyes especially for being in the business he's in.

" Actually I need your help." I confide.

" What's wrong?" he says in a more serious tone than his normal light joking matter.

" I think Kol wants to hurt Ivy." I say quietly with worry in my voice.

" What do you need me to do?" He asks casiotiously.

" I need a car." I state confidently. I have no power over him yet at this moment in time it feels more like an order than a request. Dustin understands how much it broke me when I believed Ivy to be dead. He knows that I would sacrifice my life to save hers. Luckily he doesn't want that.

" Follow me," he leads me outside past the guards that give us looks of suspicion.

" Take my car, just dont wreck it." He says slightly worried while throwing me the keys to his maserati.

" Thanks." I say sliding into the driver's seat. The car's leather is sleek. Much nicer than anything I've ever seen. I can't help but admire the astonishing interior as I drive out of the gates.

I may be speeding but I just couldn't live with myself if anything happened to Ivy. She's too young for this.

I reached the isolated ranch style house and rushed up to knock on the door. The same older couple that I met the first time I came to check on Ivy answered the door.

" Alexia, how lovely to see you again, is everything alright?" The older woman asks politely.

" Yes everything is fine. I just miss my sister, that's all," I convince them.

" Okay well that's understandable she misses you as well." The older woman smiles at me kindly.

" Do you mind if I stay the night?" I plead.

" Of course not sweetie. Go ahead, Ivy's room is the first one on the right."

I adjust the backpack strap and make my way to Ivy's bedroom door. As I walk in I see Ivy with headphones on while reading some magazine. As quirky as possible I sneak up behind her then jump on the bed.

She screams at the top of her lungs while I'm trying to hold in tears from how hard I'm laughing.

" Oh my god Lexi, you gave me a heart attack." She screamed frantically.

We catch up, we sit and we talk for hours until it gets late into the night when we both finally drift off to sleep. I realize it is 5 am and that today Ash will be flying home. I shake Ivy awake letting her know that I will be leaving and hopefully coming back shortly. We say our goodbyes before I quietly exit the house to head back to the mansion.

After I park the car I quietly slip into one of the back doors. As I know Kol isn't the most enthusiastic about me leaving the house. I look down the hallway and the coast is clear.

I quietly close the door when a hand wraps around my mouth. I try to get out of the grasp but whoever it is pushes a gun against my head which makes my heart stop. " You really think you can keep getting away with things don't you?" A deep voice growls. Kol.

" Quiet, follow me. This will be the last time you pull this kind of shit again. I think there is something you don't understand here. You need to get it in that dumb little head of yours. That I am in charge here."
