"FINE!"

Conner yelled, slamming a door, it flung out of the hinges and through another room. His genetic father crossed his arms and turned around coldly. The clone burst through the window and flew south towards his current home. The Titans Tower.

Conner stormed into his room and slammed the door. This time, it had stayed in place. If that hadn't alerted the others, his new dent in the wall did. The Titans all simultaneously began to collect at his door, but Kori was the one who knocked. "Hey, Conner, is something wrong?" She asked. He didn't answer. They all knew he wasn't going to after he had visited his half-father. It must've gone worse than Kori had anticipated, worse than the last meeting. The one that involved a syringe full of deactivation fluid.

The titans all left, knowing he wasn't going to answer till much later, if at all. Kori tapped her finger upon her chin, before glancing to the shadows of the room. She flicked off the light in the hallway, the light of hair the only thing she could see. "I'm not completely sure how your powers work. But if you get this- He really needs someone this time. And- maybe that's you." Though the Tamarian didn't get a response, she nodded. Before clicking the light back on.

Leaving Conner to watch all the shadows disappear except for one. A figure, with two distinctive horns. Distinctively cute horns.

A shadow slipped under the door. It was showing a knocking motion. Conner swings the door open in a rush. C/n stood there with a shocked expression. Almost as if they weren't completely sure why they were there either. But it was him, he didn't look like Conner right now. His messy hair, and rising tears. They frowned, he quickly tackled the villain in a hug, closing the door behind them. C/n takes a second to hug back, as lovingly as they can muster. He pulls them closer, lodging his head in the crook of their neck.

Conner starts to let out his tears and cry. "Please don't leave." C/n loved fear, loved feeding off the fear of the world. It was their purpose, they supposed. Though they didn't know much about their heritage, they did know their mother was something- beyond the mortal plane they knew. She left them in a world that hated them, with a father that lost himself, and an innate ability to control the darkness around them.

That's how C/n got their name. They were the monster hiding under the bed, the one at the bottom of the stairs at night. And now that monster was petting one of the Teen Titans' hair as he cried.

But this was different. The fear, the darkness that faded off the clone, didn't taste sweet. It tasted bitter, shriveled, and rotten. They had seen him afraid before, tasted the stench before. They ran around for months before they realized why it had tasted so bad.

They didn't want Conner to be afraid.

"I.." C/n tried to muster out something, anything to help the boy. But this was new to them. So they took a breath and tried again. Their shadow-dipped hands wrapped further around Conner. "I'm staying. Don't worry about anything." Of course, C/n knew what happened. They had talked to the shadow that watched the whole thing, a few in the hallway of Lexcorp and another behind a pillar. They had seen the entire thing, though C/n was the only one they told about it.

"Do.. You want to talk about it?" C/n threw the words from their mouth. It felt new, although not wrong. Sure, C/n didn't ever want to talk about their feelings, but Conner was different. And that was something no one needed to tell them.

"Really?" "I don't know it might make you feel better.?" C/n suggested. "Sit down." They suggested he lean back into the bed with the villain still buried in his arms. He was like a crying puppy.

C/n smiled at him before pushing him down to their lap. He blushed, watching them que his story. "I went to Lex's tower to meet with him- after Ma and Louis told me not to. They were right- He just ended up showing me all the test tubes and how much of a malfunction I was." He explained, "Just glad he got rid of the others. I don't know if I could've seen that again.." C/n's hand began to sharpen, they were pissed. All they wanted to do was shred that man into tiny pieces and make some rock song about his masculinity.
