Chapter 17: I'm not some helpless women!

Keira's POV:

I gently set the pan of dough in the oven,  startled at the knock at the door. I looked back at nick who was throwing another piece of wood into the fire, "Stay where you are and don't go anywhere." I tell him seriously, I still hadn't known how the village people would react to him, he was a foreigner from outside of the forest and that itself had been weird

They'd no doubt think of him as a demon of some sort, and he also wasn't fully recovered. Nor Had I learned who he was or where he came from and I couldn't let that go, I had so many questions that he still needed to answer. I slowly walked over to the door holding the handle as I thought, maybe I should pretend I hadn't been here, the village knew I had been out to search for my brother

But I knew they'd probably see the smoke coming from our house, and the lights. It was no escaping the fact that they knew I was here, I'd just have to make sure whoever Was at the door wouldn't step inside my home which shouldn't be very hard as a unmarried women, I opened the door gently to be met with Steven on the other side

He looked worried but happy I was safe, I smiled softly, "You've returned! How was it, did you find your brother?" He questions worriedly, his gaze going over my body searching to see if I had been hurt at all, I smile sadly looking down at the ground. "No I haven't, I'm not done looking though! I simply needed to return home to do a couple of- things." I say pausing, I was not exactly lying. I had to return to help the man I had found. I'd return to find my brother once he was better

"Don't go back out there, you know my offer still stands. Keira marrying me would do you so much good, I could take care of you. I think it would be what your brother would want." He says making me scuff. "You don't know what my brother wants, don't act like he's dead! And I'm not some helpless women who needs a husband at the age of 19, so please leave." I let out furious, how dare he! Not only did he apply that my brother is dead knowing how I feel he also thinks that

I can't live on my own, that I need the support of a man to survive! "Keira you know I didn't mean any harm." He whispers coming closer, I gasp glaring at him, it's forbidden to be in a house alone with a unmarried man. Sure nick had been living with me but that had been different, he hadn't showed interest in the way Steven has and I'm only simply nursing him back to Health.

"Please leave." I spit out glaring at the male, suddenly something drops from the living room making Steven perk up, "What was that?" He questions, I brushed it off and pushed him out the door not before he pushed me aside rushing into the house, "Steven you need to go." I say trying to make him leave, unfortunately he sees nick who is picking up a book that had fallen from the floor and setting it back on it's bookshelf

"Who are you?!" Steven questions darkly
