Chapter 2: I believed Austin Mahone? Fuck.~
Before I knew it, we had approached our destination which was about five minutes away – school. It was my first day as a sophomore and honestly, for the first time, I couldn’t be any more excited. This was my year and I couldn’t wait to see what it had in store for me.
I walked out of Mike’s van with the biggest smile on my face I’ve had in a long time. I walked up to the front of the building, and let out a sigh.
I felt someone’s strong arm rest around my shoulder as they said, “You ready, Anderson?”
I didn’t even have to look to know it was Ryan.
“More than ever,” I replied with a soft smile.
“Well, I’ll see you around loser!” He said.
I laughed and stuck my tongue out at him and said, “Bye.”
I watched as he walked up to greet his girlfriend, Ally. He picked her up by the waist and spun her around and gently kissed her before he set her down. The smiles on their faces made me smile. They were honestly adorable. Ever since Ryan has been dating Ally, he’s been the happiest he’s ever been. I’ve only talked to her once but I could tell she’s really sweet. She seemed like a genuinely nice person and I’m glad Ryan found someone like her. He deserved it.
As I watched them, I began to feel the slightest bit jealous. Not because I like Ryan or anything, I was jealous of what they had. They had a beautiful, loving relationship and were always happy. I wanted that. I wanted what they had. I wanted to be happy.
Well, this is my year, I thought to myself. Anything can happen.
I sighed and proceeded to walk into the school. I knew this school like the back of my hand, even though I’ve only been here a year. I walked into the program office to receive my schedule. Once I got it, I looked it over while I walked over to my locker. I was interrupted by someone calling my name in a squeaky voice.
“Yes, Christina!” I answered back, not looking up from my schedule.
I knew my friends too well. Christina can never hide that squeaky, sometimes irritating, voice. Once she caught up to me, I looked up at her.
“What classes do you have?” she asked.
“Uh, here, switch schedules with me,” I answered.
We studied each other’s classes as we walked to our lockers which were right next to each other.
Just as we have reached our locker, Christina squeaked, “Yee!”
I squeezed my eyes shut and put both my hands against my ears, over exaggerating.
“Jesus, Christina!” I said, referring to the high pitch of her voice. She knows I hate it when she squeaks.
“Sorry,” she began, trying to bring her voice to a normal register, “It’s just that we have almost every class together accept for Spanish, Choir, and Homeroom!” she exclaimed while clapping her hands, excitedly.
I smiled, “Great.”
I was actually really happy; this year was already starting off good.
Just as I was finished stuffing books in my locker and was about to slam it shut, Christina let out a sigh and a soft smile appeared on her lips.
“What?” I asked, curiously.
I turned around to see what she was looking at, and I knew exactly what Christina was drooling over – them. They strutted down the hallway, acting like they owned the place. What disgusted me the most was that I used to be friends with one of them, had history with one of them, and was even still best friends with one of them. The most “popular” guys in school.
